This has been a year of branching out to new shows. Carolina Classic in Winston-Salem was a general wool breed show, but we competed against some great sheep, including a ton of Shetlands. We got to meet some more fiber farmers and hang out with friends.

Mary Claire kicked us off winning 2nd in Shepherd’s Lead, wearing a vintage wool skirt and Shetland vest. The 9 sheep we brought consistently placed well in their classes, and we came home with another stack of ribbons!

It took us a bit but here it finally is… our Mountain State Fair post!

What a fantastic weekend for our flock in both the Junior and Open Wool Breed Sheep Shows! Junior Show highlights include Pepper earning Reserve Supreme Champion Shetland Ewe, Philly winning Grand Champion Medium Wool Ewe and then going on to win Reserve Grand Champion Ewe, along with our flock being named Premier Exhibitor in the Junior Show. Juniper earned Reserve Champion Medium Wool Ewe in the Open Show! We are so proud of all 12 sheep we brought to the show, with more awards than we will list out here, including multiple first place finishes in both shows!

Our next pottery class is a perfect way to get in the holiday mood! We will have TWO classes - one in the morning for the kids and their adult, one in the evening for the adults (18+). Grab your friends or significant other and come make memories. We will have hot chocolate and cookies and sheep to meet.

The girls and I had a blast at the Carolina Classic Fair the past couple days. We showed 9 sheep in the wool show, brought home some ribbons, enjoyed the fair, and got a chance to explore Winston-Salem. We hung out with fellow fiber farmers, who I really believe to be some of the kindest people. We can't wait to come back next year and do it again!

I'm sure we will have a full show breakdown soon, including pictures that actually have sheep in them, but first, time to catch up on all these farm chores that waited for us while we were gone!

Yesterday was amazing - so many new faces, perfect weather, and the largest crowd we have welcomed.

If you missed out, or just can't wait to come back to the farm, our next event is coming up soon. Come make gnomes with Susannah Hayes and enjoy a fall fire with s'mores. As always, some sheep time will be squeezed in as well!

Looking for something to do with the family tomorrow? Come spend Saturday at Baker Farm 🐑

At the Fall Farm Festival, you can meet the farm’s heritage sheep, see how wool goes from fleece to yarn, and shop from local artisans and small businesses. Look for Las Americas supermarket, Mother's Homemade, Melanated Berries, Literally Lemons, and Amber Leaf Pottery at the farm tomorrow, along with more local vendors and live music from Felix and Bones.
