As a general rule, I don’t make character cookies. Since all of my decorating is done by hand, characters take A LOT of time to create and, honestly, they kind of scare me. There are just too many tiny details that can go wrong!

BUT… I have an Elmo cookie cutter, and I’ve made this little monster before, so I knew what I was getting myself into. 😆

Please don’t take this as an invitation to send me all your favorite character requests. 😂 I know seeing a character on a cookie is cool, but I much prefer making cookies inspired by a character rather than trying to recreate the character itself. It’s just more my speed!

I almost didn’t post these, but they turned out way too cute not to share. ❤️

Happy 2nd Birthday, Raamiah! 🎉🎂 Elmo loves you! ❤️🍪

This was probably one of the hardest things for me to master when I switched from glaze icing to royal icing. 😅

When I first started decorating cookies, I used glaze because that’s what came with the cookie recipe I was using. And honestly? I LOVED the taste. It was soft, delicious and had that perfect bite.

But as I got better at decorating, I realized I couldn’t get the fine details I wanted with glaze. So I made the switch to royal icing… and then had to learn how to actually WORK with it. 😂

Getting the consistency right—especially stiff icing like this—took some time and a whole lot of trial and error. Royal icing can be a little tricky because too stiff and too thin can both cause problems. 😅

Over the years, I’ve tweaked my royal icing recipe until I finally got it where I wanted it: sturdy enough to hold all those little details, but still soft enough to have that same delicious bite I loved about glaze. ❤️

So this is what my stiff royal icing looks like before the decorating begins! 🍪✨

And here’s what happened next… 👀🍪

From that airbrushed pattern to the finished cookie. ✨

I love watching all those little details come together! 🥰

Like what you see? Be sure to give it a like and follow along for more cookie decorating! 💜

I’m working with a customer on a “Little Turkey Is on the Way” baby shower for November, so I sent her a picture of a similar order I did six years ago.

Well… upon closer inspection of that picture, I noticed something I somehow NEVER noticed before… I totally forgot to dot the I’s and cross the T’s! 🤦🏾‍♀️

And I didn’t realize it until TODAY. SIX YEARS LATER. 🫣

I make multiple cookies of each design for a set, so I’m really hoping the others were correct. Because if they weren’t, I’m pretty sure that customer thought I was absolutely insane. 😂😂

Apparently, even after 15 years of making cookies, I can still surprise myself. 🤣🍪

A little behind-the-scenes magic from Emmrie’s 11th birthday cookies! ✨🍪

I love what a little airbrush work can do to take a cookie from simple to wow. 🩷

And this was just one little piece for this cookie. Stay tuned for part 2.

Emmrie celebrated her birthday at her favorite place with her favorite people… the softball field and her teammates! ⚾️💗

This is my second time making cookies for Emmrie and her team, and it was just as much fun the second time around! I’m always so honored when families come back to Emi’s Treats for another special celebration. 🥹🩷

Happy 11th Birthday, Emmrie! Hope your day was a total home run! ⚾️🎉

While TJ was at school, I made THREE triple batches of cookie dough! That sounds like a lot, but honestly, it’s my norm. 😂 Big Bertha (my 8-quart KitchenAid mixer) definitely got a workout today!

One little time-saving trick I use when I’m making multiple batches is weighing my flour instead of spooning it into measuring cups. It’s faster, more consistent, and when you’re making this much dough, every little bit of time saved adds up!

So while TJ was learning his ABCs, I was over here making enough cookie dough to keep me busy for a while. 😂🍪

Should we play Guess the Cookie Cutter again? 🤔

Okay, this one is pretty obvious… BUT I’m not entirely convinced it’s actually Mickey Mouse. The ears are a little off, the chin line isn’t quite right… so maybe this is just Mickey’s cousin? 🤣

I’ve never used this guy before, but now I feel like I NEED to! 🐭🍪

What do you think—Mickey Mouse, just a mouse or something completely different? 👀

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! 🇺🇸❤️

And thank you again to everyone who braved the heat Saturday to come see me at the market! 🥹🫶🏾

My weekend was all about FAMILY! ❤️ After packing up from the market, I headed to Cedar Rapids to spend some time with my Isaac family. Sunday, we had the Robinson family over for a special birthday celebration for my favorite mother-in-law, and yesterday my little family spent the day at the park and got ice cream. 🍦

It was a busy but wonderful weekend, and now it’s time to get back to work! 😂 I’m making THREE triple batches of dough this morning while TJ is at school. 🍪💪🏾

Cheers to the short week… and to feeling like today is Monday! 😂☕️
