Life has been hectic.. yesterday afternoon I slowed down and took Jack for a walk around the farm. Our soybeans are looking good, but the leaves are starting to turn. That’s what they should be doing, but it’s a sign fall is coming and you know what comes after fall…… winter. The first summer with our baby has gone by so fast! I’m not ready for winter but bring on fall! 🍂🍁🎃

Meet Ebony. 🖤🐮

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan on the farm. Every once in a while, a cow has a calf and, despite our best efforts, just doesn’t want anything to do with her. It’s not ideal for a beef herd, but it means this little girl gets some extra TLC.

So, for the next few months, you’ll probably find Ebony following me around the farm with a bottle in hand. Bottle calves are a lot of work, but they’re also some of the sweetest little personalities you’ll ever meet.

I’d say she’s already settling into life at Granite Hills Farm and has definitely found a soft spot in my heart. Welcome to the farm, sweet girl! 🖤

In case you missed us at the farmers market these past couple of weeks, we wanted to share why we’ve been absent.

Our son, Jack, recently underwent surgery at UW Children’s Hospital. Thankfully, everything went well, and he is recovering a little more each day. Right now, our focus is where it needs to be, taking care of our little guy and helping him heal.

We’ll likely be away from the market for another couple of weeks, but we look forward to seeing all of you again soon. We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and support during this time. It means more to our family than you know.

Thank you for continuing to support our small family farm. We can’t wait to be back at the market and see everyone soon! ❤️

Last week, we had the opportunity to welcome Senator Sarah Keyeski to our farm for a great conversation about agriculture and the issues impacting Wisconsin farm families.

As farmers, it's important that we build relationships with our elected officials, regardless of political party. Agriculture is too important to be partisan, and meaningful conversations help ensure the voices of farmers and rural communities are heard.

We discussed several key topics facing agriculture today, and I appreciated Senator Keyeski taking the time to listen and learn more about our operation. As a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Revenue, the decisions she helps shape can have a direct impact on Wisconsin farmers.

Thank you, Senator Keyeski, for taking the time to visit and for your willingness to engage with Wisconsin agriculture.

As we enjoy this Memorial Day weekend on the farm; firing up the grill, gathering with family, and appreciating the freedoms we often take for granted , we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country. 🇺🇸

Because of their sacrifice, families like ours are able to continue doing what we love: raising food, caring for the land, and building a life rooted in freedom and hard work.

Today we honor the heroes who never made it home. May we never forget the true meaning of Memorial Day.

From our farm family to yours, thank you to all who have served and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙
