FYI: This is for a position on the Board of Education in the Eastern District of Nelson County, Virginia. This includes eastern Shipman, Rockfish, Schuyler, Faber areas. We need to represent!

The Nelson County School Board (VA) is seeking applications from interested persons to fill the unexpired term of the East District School Board representative. Regretfully, Mrs. Deborah Harvey, has tendered her resignation to be effective January 1, 2019.

Applicants must:
o be a registered voter;
o be a resident of the East District;
o have a minimum education of a high school diploma or GED;
o cannot have been convicted of a felony; and
o cannot be a current employee of the school district and/or an immediate family member of a current employee in the district.

Applications need to be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. The School Board will hold a Public Hearing for the purpose of public comment during the scheduled board meeting on Thursday, December 13, 2018. The Board will appoint a representative on or after December 20, 2018. The interim term for this position is effective from January 1, 2019 until December 31, 2019.

Once an interim appointment is made, the regular election process will take place. An election for this vacancy will be held on November 5, 2019, for a term of two years, effective January 1, 2020. The deadline for registering to run for the East District seat for the term of January 1, 2020 – December 31, 2021 is June 11, 2019 at the Nelson County Registrar’s Office.

Oh, the garlic will love this... Garlic does most of its development and dividing of the bulb during the winter. It wants cold snowy cover and slightly wet loamy soil. Some of the best growing seasons here was when we had a perpetual ice/snow layer for weeks. Still building up seed stock this year at Walnut Bottom...

Cleaning, Hanging, and Drying Elephant Garlic! Bulbs, Cloves, Rounds, and Bulbels being sorted... I'm saving up seed stock to increase next Falls planting. These need to cure in cool, dark, and dry place for 6 weeks... 😀

Okay, before the 1969 Huricane Camille Flood in Nelson County, Virginia, there was two houses on this property that were lost to the flood. I'm thinking this was one of the footings. It is in the vicinity of where one of the houses should have been.
