Have you guys seen those (typically sports player) photo shoots where they briefly light on fire something related to their sport (ie basketball, soccer ball, baseball bat) and then take a photo which turns out awesome with the fire (or colored smoke in some cases) visible? Do I know any photographers in the Midwest who could do this with people and horses?!

(Below are just examples, full rights to the actual photographer!)

Someone out there is looking for a 3 ring unicorn, complete with a record in everything you can imagine, for a steal.

USEF # 5463171
12yo WB gelding by Quinar with a record from children’s hunter to 3’6 performance, big eq, 1.35m jumpers, tons of hunter derbies (both open and jr/am). A hair under 16.1hh. Auto everything, little to no prep and LOVES to horse show. No vices, very minimal maintenance (age/career appropriate).

Q is an incredible partner with all the buttons- handy rounds have never been so seamlessly easy. Easy to have in the barn, and a groom/braider favorite. He has taken multiple jumper and event riders around their first hunter derbies with great success, and even helped fill in for crossrail/2’ lessons when needed. Q stepped off the trailer and into the 3’6” WEC Premier Cup big eq class at WEC this winter and earned a junior a qualification for the finals- her first time sitting on him.

Lower end of mid fives to borrow
Mid/high fives to keep.

If anyone texted me at all yesterday, just know I didn’t get it… my phone has been super glitching for the past couple weeks and really went downhill while I was at split rock (it worked for maybe 15% of the time we were in KY…), and finally got a new phone yesterday and had it transfer overnight. So, I’m back in the loop now and I apologize for any lack of communication the past couple weeks- it’s been rough!!!

3’3” Performance handy hunter round this morning to kick off our second day at Split Rock Fall 2- I definitely played it safe on the turns when I really didn’t need to, but Q was incredible as always and I had a blast for my first handy round (though clearly not his- peep the trot jump at the end!)! Q has two more over fences rounds to finish his 3’ division later this morning, and then he’ll enjoy a day out of the show ring tomorrow (maybe a field trip to some paddock free time!). Hunter derby first thing Saturday morning!

Managed to get plenty of things done over the holiday weekend, despite the barrage of fireworks that we expect every year, given our location in the country between two popular lakes! Here is a short clip of Favortina’s first day back to work since her return from a short stay in TN. Favor is a 4yo homebred TB filly (unraced), with a yearling record in the future event horse division, lots of trail mileage and a couple local H/J shows as a 3yo. She has a bright future and is ready for her next person.

SGE has had a busy spring at the farm, requiring us to forego our usual early start to a busy showing season, but we are back in full swing now!

We’ve spent the last couple weekends away, at Windfall Farm and Pepper Oaks (respectively), and SO many awesome students and owners. What a great start to our summer season- and inspiration as we continue on through the “busy” season!

There have been many ”farm days” with students coming out to help with the many tasks that can pile up here, a new BABY “Catalyst SGF” (a foal, of course… not human 🤣), lots of doggos enjoying farm life, and horses graduating our program and well as new ones coming in. We are so thankful for our village, and are always open to more friendly faces!

As always, we are SO thankful for our team and sponsors that keep us going!!

Coming 7yo
JC name Windsheer

“Sheera” is a top upper level prospect- for eventing, jumpers, or dressage- she has it all. She has successfully competed in local jumpers through 1.0m, USEA eventing through novice (with a Junior who had only ridden her for three weeks!), unrecognized through training level, and dressage through first level. She is a sensitive, forward ride who prefers a rider with an educated seat and hand to give her best to. With no vices, injuries, or maintenance required, she prefers a person who is upfront and to the point, bypassing all the cuddling and selfies (though you may get a good one occasionally, if you’re lucky!). She is easy to handle and live with, and requires no hormones when showing. We would ideally like to see her with a rider who has high aspirations, whether it’s in eventing, jumpers, or dressage. She is very brave, athletic, and exceptionally intelligent, but not suited for a timid rider because of these desirable traits. If you want a mare who will give you 110% every time with the talent to match, you’ve found her. Sheera has been in occasional work throughout the winter due to weather and time constraints, and her value has been adjusted accordingly. Low fives

RRP ELIGIBLE
“Slainte”- 16.1/16.2hh coming 5 year old TB mare. As her name means in Gaelic, “cheers! 🍻”, you’ll be all smiles with her. She is exceptionally intelligent, and loves doing the right thing. While still quite green in her education, she debuted at WEC in the baby greens against a full class of WBs and earned ribbons every time. Auto changes, clean jump, adjustable, and brave- she’s never had a stop in the show ring or at home. She is an easy ride, offering no naughty behaviors or “hot” rides, and will happily pack around your friend, your friends boyfriend, and maybe even your mechanic down the road if they want to walk around 💁‍♀️Her fourth time seeing fences, Slainte was schooling the 3’ hunter derby jumps at WEC without so much as a peek- she’s probably braver than most of your friends, possibly smarter, too. She is an absolute unicorn of a mare who will make into the perfect three ring horse for a kid on a budget, a TB believer like myself, or an A/A who wants to have their cake and eat it too. I think she would be easily competitive at her first BN event in the spring with just one XC outing beforehand, then could move up to novice shortly thereafter. With the right campaign over the summer, she should be ready for training level next winter. She would would also thrive as an eventer as she is smart, brave, and a good mover. She is an easy keeper with good roughage, and lives outside 24/7 at my home farm, with regular trailer rides to a local indoor where she is stalled for the day. She loves being pampered at longer shows, and will stand all day for bathing, farrier care, grooming, etc. With no injuries or vices, she is comfortable with front shoes. Perhaps the only negative thing I could come up with in regards to Slainte is that she can be mildly girthy when being tacked up- the ONLY time you’ll see a mare glare from this sweet girl. First in the field to greet you, she is easy to catch. Dog friendly, kid friendly, would probably even like your ex husband because she doesn’t judge. We don’t mind Slainte staying with us for the upcoming season, so perfect homes only need apply.
