For those interested in learning more about the history of the Weldon Farm, the early Rockford pioneers, and the Church Triumphant, there will be a presentation this Sunday, August 8th, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at the Winnebago Town Hall, 116 S. Benton St., Winnebago, IL, entitled “Weldon Family Stories”.
Presented by the Winnebago Community Historical Society, the presentation will be given by Bob Weldon, Great Grandson of Spencer Weldon, builder of the Weldon Farm, and Jonathan Carreira, Spencer’s Great Great Grandson. The presentation will cover from the early settler days when Spencer and his Family, lead by his father Jonathan, traveled by covered wagon to Illinois from New England, through the time period when the farm became the headquarters for the notorious Church Triumphant, under the leadership of George Jacob Schweinfurth, through the modern days as a family dairy farm.
