Planting season is ramping up!
Please slow down, be alert, and be patient when encountering farm machinery on the roads this spring!
Be careful when passing. Don’t try to pass slow moving farm equipment on the left without ensuring that the farmer driving the equipment is not planning a left turn. It may appear that they are pulling over to allow a pass when they are actually preparing to turn.
Honk or motion when passing. They may not see you or know you are there - their equipment is big and noisy.
Stay safe!

Snowy weather doesn’t keep us down here at BNGF!
We have been keeping busy this winter with hauling our corn and soybeans. Each truck puts on approximately 1,500-2,000 miles delivering about 26,000-32,000 bushels of grain a week! Most days we begin as early as 5:00am and we work until as late as 6:00pm.

Every year in farming is unpredictable and brings about the unexpected. Typically we are picking wet corn, which varies in moisture from +30% and below. We maintain grain moistures in the bin at approx. 15% to preserve grain quality and prevent grain spoilage.
This year we have picked corn with moistures around 15%, give or take a few points. This is a gift from God in our industry, as it saves time, wear and tear on equipment and helps the bottom line in a year that commodity prices have taken a hit.
Thank you to Josh Erickson for the amazing photography!

Harvest is going really well! We have had some equipment challenges and excessive corn dust allergies, but we can’t complain! The beans were done early and the corn is dry - which has meant not having to man the driers around the clock!
And some great pictures of the moon and the northern lights!
