Our 2-week-old Silver Fox bunnies are growing so fast! 🐇💕

We currently have lilac and blue babies, and they are at such a fun stage right now.

At 2 weeks old, some exciting milestones are happening:
• Their eyes are open
• Their soft fur is really filling in
• They’re becoming more active and wiggly
• They’re starting to be more aware of their surroundings
• You may even see them doing a little early exploring around the nest box

They are still tiny, but their personalities are already starting to show! We love watching these sweet babies grow each day. 💜🩶

Today we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day also brought a sweet little blessing to the ranch — our baby chocolate Dutch bunnies have arrived! 🐰🤎 New life is always such a special reminder to slow down, be thankful, and appreciate the simple blessings around us.

You know how they say “just one more animal…”… yeah, we officially don’t believe that anymore 😂

We’re so excited to welcome 2 Nubian mamas and 3 adorable baby boys to the homestead! 🐐💕
These floppy ears and sweet faces have already completely stolen the show.

At this point, I’m convinced there’s no such thing as being “done” adding animals… there’s always just one more that somehow finds its way here 😅

The farm just keeps growing, and honestly—we wouldn’t have it any other way ❤️

✨ Meet our newest addition… Jitter Bug! ✨

This beautiful girl is a Silver Fox rabbit doe and we are so excited to have her join the crew! 🖤🐰 She has such a calm, sweet personality already and that gorgeous dense coat that Silver Fox rabbits are known for.

Thanks Woodland Homestead for this sweet and beautiful silver fox doe!!

We’re especially excited because full-bred babies are expected in the next few months! 🙌

🐣 First-Time Silkie Chick Owner? Here’s What You Need to Know! 🐣

Silkie chicks are one of the sweetest (and fluffiest!) breeds you can raise—but they do need a little extra care compared to standard chicks. Here’s a quick beginner-friendly guide to help you get started:

✨ 1. Keep Them Warm
Silkie chicks can’t regulate their body temperature yet.
• Start with a brooder temp around 95°F
• Lower it by ~5 degrees each week
• Watch their behavior—huddling = too cold, spreading out = too hot

🍽️ 2. Feed & Water
• Use a high-quality chick starter feed, non-medicated. Medicated with deprive them of essential vitamins.
• Provide fresh, clean water at all times
• Add marbles/pebbles in water dishes to prevent drowning

🛏️ 3. Safe & Clean Brooder
• Use pine shavings (avoid cedar)
• Keep bedding dry and change regularly
• Make sure the brooder is draft-free

💛 4. Gentle Handling
Silkies are known for being friendly and calm—handle them gently and often to help them become even more social as adults

🌧️ 5. Extra Care for Fluff
Unlike other chickens, Silkies don’t have waterproof feathers
• Keep them dry at all times
• Be cautious when transitioning them outdoors

🐔 6. Growth & Development
Silkies grow a little slower than other breeds and may take longer to feather out—be patient with them!

💡 Pro Tip: Silkies are more vulnerable to cold and wet conditions, so take your time when moving them outside—especially in early spring!

If you’re raising Silkies for the first time, you’re in for a treat—they’re full of personality and make amazing pets 🖤
