We finally have our first egg!!! One of our Starlight Green Eggers did her job. Considering these our are least favorite as they bully our baby Silkies and have no personality they have moved up in the rankings by being the first to produce. 😂
Pic is for breed reference and was taken a while back.

One more post because if I don’t do it now who knows when I’ll be in the mood again.

So some of you were wondering about “our people.”
I have very limited information but I’ll share with you what I was told by our very old neighbor Carl who lives in the property he was born on.

Laura Mae was eccentric, however who knows what that means to people in a tiny town in the bible belt. She never learned how to drive but LOVED Elvis. She would take a taxi into town whenever a new Elvis movie came out in the theater.

That’s it. That’s the sum of what I know. I once casually searched the internet for more information but came up empty. Maybe if some of you like sleuthing you can find out more or else I’ll have to look into county records or something along those lines for more details.

For now we just appreciate Ms or Mrs Fearnow and the love she must have had for her land to want to be buried on it instead of going the more acceptable route and being buried in a cemetary. Lord knows there’s a million of them out here!

This photo was taken when I put out her fall colors bouquet to keep her grave cheery. Also, I love her headstone! The etched flowers are perfect. Next time I’ll post about our married couple. See ya!

The Silkie babies are a lot bigger and a lot fluffier. I named them, in picture order, Ursula, Elvira, Glenda, and Morticia. Chris tells me not to name them because those will be the ones that die but we lost two this week, not sure from what, and they didn’t have names so that theory is out.

The additional photo is for a little girl named Lydia who wanted me to name the white Silkie Snowflake. Well it just so happens that I have one completely white chicken so Amanda Lynn Specht please tell Lydia that the hen pictured in the last photo is now named Snowflake.

Elvira, Morticia, and…

Help me name one more of the black Silkie babies and the white one. Should the white one be goth also or is she more “Glenda the good witch”?

Also, they are still getting their feathers in so that’s why they look janky.

Introducing Lil Al’s hoe house. Can you guess who came up with that name? 🙄 Also, do chickens graze? Maybe forage is a better word.

P.S. I don’t really plan to sensor this page so if you’re sensitive to jokes and/or cursing this probably isn’t the page for you. However, if you like monotone chicken videos this is definitely the page for you!

I feel like there’s never a dull moment in a multi-dog household especially when one of them is a year old and loves mischief! (Cough, cough Bert) So why am I posting a pic of a turtle? Well, I was looking at Bert who was laying on the back deck and I noticed him chewing on a large rock. This isn’t a new thing but usually they’re small rocks that I worry he’ll swallow. I’m thinking at least this time the rock is big. The more I look though the more I think the rock looks weird. I walk out to investigate only to discover he’s chewing on a turtle shell!!! Luckily box turtles can pull all of their parts into their shell so he was fine. I relocated the turtle to a place where he can’t become a dog’s chew toy again and later saw him emerge and head off into the woods. NEVER a dull moment around here.

Meet our rescue dog Scout! He’s currently our number one farm dog! This city dog immediately took to country life. He’s the only one who stays right by us and doesn’t run off on adventures. He seems so much more relaxed and happy living in the country. In the city he barked at everyone and everything that passed by our house and now he rarely makes a sound. I think Scout and I were both made for rural living. 😂
