Update- Celie’s displeasure could be heard above the stereo from the road before Sean pulled into the driveway. She continued to lecture him about being left with two inferior species (the dogs) on the porch all day and quickly devoured every treat offered. Banana, apple, hay, goat Cheerios, more apple, taste tested a cardboard box…
When Sean made her lay on her side so I could remove a bandage on her leg and instead of a fight she used his arm as a scratching post and twisted her head around to inspect me from the upside down angle, we knew our girl was back.
She’s currently on her way back up to the barn. I’m sure Sean is hiding in the garage so she doesn’t follow him back down for snuggles and a bedtime story. 💕🥰

The last 24 hours has been quite the roller coaster. The humans got hit with some kind of bug, but determined to enjoy some last days of fall, we took a walk yesterday evening. Sean, me, the dogs, Bob, and Celie (who doesn’t take the goat and cat hiking?). Completely uneventful and gorgeous walk. But when I went to the barn to milk, Celie refused to eat. She joined us in the house for observation where she proceeded to projectile vomit and regurgitate every fluid in her little body all night long. She and I both stayed up all night, both of us crying, both of us sick.
I can’t be more thankful for my friends. I truly have the best ones and today was no different. Celie got some much needed care.
I’ll save you all the details, but to see her lift her head and yell “mom!!” When I walked in from the barn tonight and roll her eyes when I called her to me was the best attitude I have been given in a long time.
She’s not back to normal. We have a long way to go. I still don’t know what caused this although I have suspicions. I can tell you she and I are both covered in charcoal, she will expect a pillow and dad to build her a fire every night from now on, and a bedtime story may be on the agenda. For now, I’m just happy she’s alive.
