A little look back at our gathering with Lauren Lockwood of Lauren Lockwood CNM at 4th Street Cellars in Santa Rosa.

From thoughtful questions to shared experiences (and plenty of laughs along the way), it was one of those nights that reminds me why I love helping bring people together.

If you’ve ever worked for The Ritz-Carlton, you know about the card😂

I started at The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe in 2013 in Food & Beverage and eventually made my way into Meetings & Special Events, managing 170+ groups a year. Weddings, corporate events, meetings, catering... you name it.

I was introduced to the RC “Gold Standards”. The Credo. The Motto. The Service Values. The little card you carry with you. You talk about these words A LOT😂 But they stuck. Honestly, they’ve carried through almost every interaction I’ve had since.

My favorite has always been #8:
“I have the opportunity to continuously learn and grow.” Which is pretty fitting when I look at the chapters that followed: Corporate chef. COVID. The Extra Apron. Cakes. Parties. Helping people with whatever they needed help with. Back to Ritz, and eventually, Beyond the Apron.

I still know the card, and I still love #8.

One of the 2027 wedding color trends is getting less matchy match. I guess Nicole + Jeff and I were ahead of our time with their moody peaches, burgundies, blushes, greens, and teals.. warm wood, antlers (anyone else want to say rich mahogany like ron burgundy?)

Trends come and go, but I’ve always liked a palette with a little room in it. Friends, it doesn’t always have to match perfectly to work.

Okay, but how do I actually pick a wedding theme?

Start with you two. Where did you meet? What do you do together? Where do you travel? What do you eat, drink, listen to? What would your friends immediately say is so you?

Then start searching those things + “wedding.” Met at a dance? Start there. Obsessed with Mexico City? Search it. Dive bars and martinis? Ohhhh, we have somewhere to go! Great Gatsby? Perfect, I have feathers!

Save whatever makes you stop. It doesn’t have to match or go together yet.

Does a whole theme appear? Maybe. Maybe we find three really good ideas that start to really feel like you two combined.

Pinterest can tell you what your wedding looks like. It can’t tell you what it feels like to be there.

I mean..obviously!

Whitney + Jon’s guests needed to know where to be and when and the pallet fit their aesthetic perfectly.

Weddings come with a lot of traditions.. they don’t have to be rules.

Fancy acrylic? Absolutely. Hand painted fabric? Love that. A pallet? But of course.

My career has been…random✨

Which means I’ve picked up some things for weirdly specific reasons.

Like vinaigrette. I have made a LOT of vinaigrette. One time my husband came home to 4 blenders working at the same time.

There was a chapter of my life where I was the corporate chef for a fast casual salad restaurant in Colorado. 3:1 is to stay in my brain.

All the randomness makes BTA a pretty eclectic little operation.

Lauren Lockwood of Lauren Lockwood CNM is bringing the conversation to the upstairs loft at 4th Street Cellars for an intimate evening centered around women’s wellness.
