Fun fact: Did you know that goats are “browsers” and not “grazers” like sheep ?
Goats prefer weeds, branches, vines and shrubs to grass. Don’t get me wrong - they will eat grass and do enjoy it. But they will seek out the other forages first.
Millie is showing just that as she pulls up a big dandelion “weed” from the lush grass.
We used to look at “weedy” areas in the pasture and wonder if we should try to cut them down and seed them. Not any more! The goats head to those areas first to pick their favorite forages while the sheep feast on grass.
