It’s one of our favorite harvests on the farm this week - our fall-seeded rye! 🌾 We use our home grown rye to ferment into silage that we feed our cattle during the cold winter months when they can’t graze on the grass. The more you know! 💛

We have A LOT of new followers on Facebook since beginning our page a few years ago, so it’s time for a new introduction of us!

Hi! 👋🏼 We’re the Mootharts! We are so glad you’re here.

Our operation began with Mike, of course, who is our fearless leader and boss man. He is always there to lend a laugh or ornery hand, as many of you know. These days you can find him pushing dirt in the skid loader, riding around in the tractor, or keeping us all organized while he awaits a new heart. Him and Kathy have been married for 30 YEARS this November! Kathy works in HR at Southeast Iowa Regional Renal Dialysis and is the glue that holds this crazy crew together!

Marcus is Mike’s partner in the business. He’s our cattleman and is at the farm sun up to sun down making sure things are rolling as they should, taking calls all day, and running the business from the tractor seat, cattle lot, or semi cab. Hollie stays home with the two tiny tots pictured here, Tate and Tyler Anne. She’s the one replying to your messages, comments and shout outs on social media and also does our book work!

Mitchell is our seed salesman and right hand man. We are abundantly lucky to have his help. He is alongside Marcus most days in the farm, but also tends to his pigs and sells seed for Becks and hauls our grain, equipment or anything else that needs trucked. He is our go-to guy when it comes to what hybrids, seed and crops we will be planting each year. He is engaged to Lydia, who is in nursing school and they’ll be married next fall!

And while Matthew is not on the farm daily, he is an essential part in making sure our operation runs smoothly. He welds for Steffensmeier Brothers Repair and Fab out of Hillsboro and is also our very own personal repair man when things go sideways. We are so thankful for his help when he is busy with his own full time job! Him and Liz have been together since forever and Liz is also in college for environmental studies and is in the Army National Guard.

We are so thankful you all are here whether it be to book a locker appointment, ask a question, or anything else! ❤️
