It's almost April. While sod is still waking up, April is a great time to seed bare areas in your lawn. This is a service we offer for shady spots, dog traffic, and generally difficult areas for sod to root. It's also a good time of year because leaves aren't blocking the sunlight from helping your seed to germinate. We generally charge .50 per sq.foot - this includes;
1.Slit seed with 20lbs per 1000sf of Tall fescue, fine fescue, and or ryegrass. Kentucky bluegrass if required.
2. Apply a peat moss on top of really thin areas to cover seed.
3. Apply a starter fertilizer with Mesotrione to prevent weeds and help new plants.

We are hiring. 1-2 good people.
Option #1 $16.00 an hour/$1200 bonus after 90days/ + $2000 bonus full season (Dec 1).
Option #2 $22 an hour 10am to 2pm you'll meet at job site.
Option #3 You tell me! We can usually make any predictable schedule work.

This is a physical job that can be difficult at times. It can be easy at times (irrigation on the farm) generally its the same everyday. Most important is that you are a nice person who is able to keep moving. Clean cut and friendly.

To the friends of Hillcrest, we are getting caught up with the spring rush and working hard at making calls and scheduling installations. If you have been missed, please accept our apology, and try us again. We are a small company that runs pretty lean.

We are giving away a free hat this week to anyone who orders 600 square feet or more (a full pallet) for Saturday May 29th farm pickup. We are cutting HGT sod, the same grass that’s at Comerica park. Cost is .29 psf. Delivery available during the week for .44psf sod included. Order must be placed online, usually books up by Thursday morning. Only condition is you must wear the hat or give it to someone who will. - Mike

Friends of Hillcrest, it was brought to our attention this morning that a boycott list of companies at the protest in Lansing yesterday included Hillcrest Farms. THIS IS NOT US!!! We are respecting all orders in place at this time. We support all the heroes facing this pandemic head on, and look forward to serving you all, safely. - Mike
