We’ve really missed hanging out at the honey stand and seeing everyone! 🐝 So we are happy to say that we're opening back up for the summer starting this Thursday evening (June 18th).

We will be open most Thursday evenings throughout the summer before transitioning to Saturday mornings in the fall.

If you're out and about, feel free to swing by between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. We’ll have our usual local honey ready to go, as well as several varieties of creamed honeys including plain, cinnamon, vanilla bean, lemon, and blueberry.

We're also really excited to share our newest creamed creation with you: Raspberry Jalapeño! 🌶️ We've been having a lot of fun making it, and there are actually several more new flavors coming down the line soon—all made with only natural, high-quality ingredients.

It’s been very cold lately, so we took advantage of a break in the weather to do a quick welfare check on the bees this afternoon which consists mainly of checking honey stores.

We are happy to report they’re doing just fine—clustered up, calm, and exactly where they should be this time of year. Cold isn’t the enemy for healthy bees; moisture, starvation and diseases associated with pest infestation are.

The next step for us is to wait for around 4 to 6 weeks (depending on the weather forecast) and drop in some protein supplement to help with the spring build up.

In the meantime we will be hoping for an early spring to get the honey bee party started as soon possible.

It’s time for Roscoe Honey to shut down the stand for the year 😕

We’ll be open one last Saturday (December 20th) for the season from 9:00–2:00, and then the stand will be closed until June.

We are little sad about shutting down for the year. What started as a hobby somehow turned into a stand, regulars, conversations we look forward to, and a reason to slow down for a few hours with our teenage children and just enjoy being outside.

If you want to stop by and say goodbye for the season, or grab some honey to get you through the winter, we’d love to see you.

💄 Beeswax Lip Balms

The individual black plastic lip balms are sold out. We still have a decent amount of kraft papers ones. Flavors include: raspberry, lemon lime, bubble gum, lemonade, banana, grape, spearmint, green apple, watermelon, key lime, peach and cherry. The kraft lip balms are $3 or 4 for $10.

🎁 $5 Gift Bags

All Christmas gift boxes and $15 gift bags are sold out for the year. We did manage to put together around 150 more $5 gift bags. These particular bags include a random 6 oz. infused creamed honey and a flavored lip balm.

We also have a few candles remaining but not many.

🎄 Honey Stand Update for This Weekend 🎄

With the brutal cold heading in, we regrettably aren’t setting up our fun outdoor honey stand this Saturday. We don’t want to disappoint anyone who was counting on us right before Christmas so instead we’re opening pickup time slots from 9 AM–1 PM on both Saturday and Sunday for anyone who wants to place an order ahead of time.

2️⃣ Your preferred pickup window (any time between 9–1) on Saturday December 13th or 14th.

Also please note if you need any Christmas themed gift bags. We buy them in bulk and provide them for free.

Cold or not, we’ll be open this Saturday from 9 to 2.

If you’ve never been out here before, our honey stand is fully outdoors — a yellow tent, fresh air, and whatever weather northern Illinois decides to throw at us.

Bundle up, watch your step in the snow, and stop by for your honey, lip balms, lotion bars, creamed honey, gift boxes and bags, and everything else we’ve got stocked. The bees might be tucked in for winter, but we aren’t.

Honeybees have a lot going against them such as pests, diseases, habitat destruction, poor nutrition and widespread pesticide use. 55.6% of all managed honeybee colonies in the United States were lost from April 1st, 2024 and April 1st, 2025.

Our bees in Roscoe aren’t immune to any of this. But one of several ways we practice good animal husbandry is by providing good shelter. After moving the colonies close together, we use a combination of roll insulation and foam board to make winter a bit easier on the bees.

This setup with a large overhang was particularly useful against the recent snowstorm.

Having a roadside honey stand with a pop-up tent in a snowstorm doesn’t seem like a good idea so we’ve decided to call off this week’s Saturday stand. So we will be closed this Saturday November 29th.

However, we’ve decided to be open tomorrow, Black Friday, from NOON UNTIL 4. The following week we will be back to our usual schedule weather permitting.

Most people have never tried the things we make, and honestly, that’s part of the fun. There’s a good chance whoever gets one of these bags will try something totally new—and end up loving it.

A small, handmade trio of our favorite items—simple, affordable, and a great way for someone to discover something new. The bags come in 7 different combinations and include a 2 oz. honey bear with candy cane, 2 oz. infused creamed honey and a small scented beeswax solid lotion bar.

🎄 $15 Christmas Gift Bags

A larger version of the $5 gift bag also with 7 combinations. The $15 bag includes a 6 oz. wildflower honey jar with dipper, 6 oz. infused creamed honey, full size scented beeswax solid lotion bar and a kraft tube flavored beeswax lip balm.

To make things even easier, like everything at our stand this time of year, these bags include a free paper gift bag and tissue paper. We have several Christmas styles to choose from.
