Rehoming Our Sweet Charlotte
This is one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make on our homestead.
Charlotte began her journey in our house because we hadn’t yet secured her a pig buddy. She drank water from our dishwasher, napped in my daughter’s stuffed animals, cuddled with our family, and played with our dog. She even learned to climb the porch stairs. From the very beginning, she was more than just livestock — she was family.
She joined our homestead in July 2020 and quickly became the heart of our pig pasture. Charlotte is 5 years old now — friendly, social, and a wonderful “nanny” to other piglets. She lovingly helped raise litters that weren’t her own, always calm and gentle.
Charlotte gave us piglets in 2022 and 2023, but didn’t settle in 2024 or this year. We believe it’s likely due to age and weight, and while she’s still healthy and full of life, she likely won’t breed again.
We are attempting to find her a pet home because we would prefer not to butcher her — but we also respect that we may end up going that route if we can’t find another option. We just want to try to see if there’s a place where she can live out her life peacefully as a pet.
Charlotte respects electric fencing, gets along well with others, and is definitely the boss in the pasture. If you’re looking for a sweet, seasoned pig with tons of personality and a heart of gold, Charlotte could be the perfect addition to your farm or backyard homestead.
Please message us with serious inquiries — we’re heartbroken to see her go, and finding the right home is our top priority.
