Richburg Show Pigs

My father, Don Richburg, started raising pigs back in 1970 when I was one year old. There were 5 of us kids who were very involved with building a herd of about 80 sows. We showed at local, county and major shows throughout Texas from the early 70's till the youngest graduated High School in 1989. We consistently made the sales and had several breed champions/reserve champions and many class winners. My dad was one of the breeders who started the Roscoe Swine Breeders Association, which was one of the top show pig sales in west Texas during the 70's and 80's. My father continued raising pigs after all of us kids went off to college and helped many local youth with their projects. In 1991, my dad started the West Texas Rehab Benefit Pig Sale and Jackpot Show to help raise money for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. He finally stopped raising pigs in 2003. He continued to be involved in the show pig business until his death in 2009. I moved back to Roscoe in 2009 after his death, and my son and I have started to raise show pigs again!
