Our final day of our Rhine & Moselle River cruise offered opportunities for our group to visit their choice of France, Germany, or Switzerland. Some took a scenic hike or bike ride through the rolling vineyards at the base of the Vosges and Black Forest mountains, stopping to try to local Gewürztraminer and Riesling, of course. Others were treated to the village of Riquewihr with its renowned colorful half timbered houses and cobblestone streets that inspired the opening scene of Beauty and the Beast.

We celebrated our last night on the AmaPrima with a heartfelt send off from our cruise director, Janina, and we squeezed out the last few drops of all the Lynfred wine we brought to Europe.

Sometimes the best stories aren't about wine.

On the last day of May, one of our Lynfriends stopped by Roselle with a very special mission. While out and about with her husband, they came across a sizable amount of cash blowing in the wind. They asked everyone nearby if it belonged to them, but no one claimed it.

Rather than keep it, they decided they would give it to someone in need if the opportunity arose. When they didn't cross paths with anyone, they held onto it and returned to the winery the next day for one reason only: to donate every dollar as a tip to our Charity of the Month, the Roselle American Legion Post 1084

In a world where we often hear about what's going wrong, this was a beautiful reminder of what's going right.

Good people are still out there. We're lucky enough to know quite a few of them.

❤️ Cheers to kindness, generosity, and the incredible community we're proud to call Lynfriends.

Our Lynfred travelers are back in France! 🇫🇷

We popped back into France for the day to visit the Alsatian city of Strasbourg. This city combines a unique blend of French and German culture due to the territory changing hands many times over many wars. After a walking tour, our guests shopped in the neighborhood of la Petite France (Little France) and sampled local dishes like bretzels (pretzels), gingerbread, and Flammkuchen or tarte flambée which is similar to pizza but with an extremely thin crust and topped with cheese, onion, and bacon.

Que Syrah, Syrah!🎶The June Wine of the Month is HERE!

Deep ruby in the glass, bold and beautiful everywhere else. 🍷

Our 2022 Syrah is overflowing with notes of black plum, blueberry, tart cherry, vanilla, black pepper, and just a whisper of mocha and toasted oak. Smooth, vibrant, and endlessly sippable, this Washington-grown beauty was practically made for smoked brisket, mushroom risotto, lamb chops, and cozy evenings on the patio that somehow turn into “just one more glass.”

Cheese lovers, do not skip the Smoked Gouda or cave-aged Cheddar pairing. Trust us on this one.

Where in the world is Lynfred? Our last day on the Moselle river took us to Cochem. 🇩🇪 Our guests selected from a biking excursion, castle tour, and a visit to a mustard mill. We walked the winding streets of Cochem, hearing the church bells echoing through the square and sampled their local peach liqueur which they often blend with local sparkling for a riff on a kir royale.

Nestled among the historic timber homes and medieval stone porticos, we found wine vending machine complete with glassware and snacks. We returned to the boat for a relaxing afternoon en route to Koblenz where the Moselle and Rhine rivers meet. It’s been very hot and sunny and the low bridges prevented the crew from putting up the canopies, but our resourceful travelers improvised with their own umbrellas.

Dinner was time for Andres and Matt to get back to work! We hosted a wine dinner for the Lynfred group in the Chefs Table paired with local and Lynfred wines.

Menu:
Burrata foam with tomato and olive
Salmon and avocado with caviar and parsnip chip both served with a local dry Riesling.
Carrot ginger soup with coconut foam served with a local blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc and a king prawn with coconut lemongrass sauce and marinated pineapple.

Then it was Lynfred time! The angus beef with carrot purée had two pairings because we couldn’t pick just one! Petite Sirah 2022 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Reserve. Both wines are a bold departure than the red offerings of the region as these grapes cannot grow in this climate.

Dessert was a chocolate mousse bomb with passion fruit gelée served with a local dessert Riesling.
