Barolo Vigna La Villa DOGC, Paiagallo MGA is a 3.2-hectare/8-acre single vineyard in Barolo that takes its name from a farmhouse owned by the first king of unified Italy, King Vittorio Emanuele II. Fontanafredda is the only w**ery allowed to harvest its grapes for w**e.

W**es from Vigna La Villa are renowned for yielding fruit-forward, elegant Barolos, shaped by the silty slopes and sunny, southeast exposure.

In a remarkable run, the iconic estate behind Italy’s first traditional method sparkling w**e has won their ninth “Sparkling W**e Producer of the Year” title at the 2026 Ch*****ne & Sparkling W**e World Championships. This is the sixth consecutive year they’ve secured this prestigious award.

Fontanafredda W**es has an exciting history — one that is peppered with important firsts, both for the region and the w**e world at large. One of those incredible achievements: they were the first w**ery to produce a single vineyard-designated , Vigna La Rosa, in 1964.

The world’s best sparkling w**es are best understood by immersing yourself in where they’re born.
 
This year’s Ferrari Trentodoc Camp took sommeliers, buyers, and Masters of W**e out of the tasting room and dropped them in the heart of the Trentino landscape so they could experience firsthand The Art of Italian Living.
 
They walked the vineyards beside the Lunelli family, studied the discipline of mountain agriculture, met the bees that share the land, and saw the Dolomites from above. Their evenings were spent gathered around long tables at Villa Margo, among historic frescoes.

The Dogliani family of Batasiolo work on 320+ acres of prime Barolo land, including five prestigious “cru” vineyards.
 
Cerequio, Bussia Bofani, Brunate, Briccolina, and Boscareto are prized spots in the Barolo territory that produce some of the most age-worthy and elegant Barolos of all — and, in 2010, they were included in the Barolo consorzio’s list of designated Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive, or MGAs, further cementing their sought-after status.

We are — as a family, as a team, as an industry — devastated by the sudden loss of our dear friend, Pierre Trimbach.

Pierre was a truly towering figure in the world of w**e. As a w**emaker, his relentless commitment to precision and terroir expression established Maison Trimbach as a benchmark for Alsace w**es. As a colleague, Pierre’s generosity, quiet warmth, and passion for knowledge has inspired countless others.

Our thoughts are with the entire Maison Trimbach family at this difficult time, especially Pierre’s wife Paulette; daughters Anne and Frédérique; grandchildren Jeanne, Gaspard, Emma, and Léo; brother Jean; and niece and nephew Pauline and Julien.

May the memory of Pierre’s extraordinary life and his enduring legacy be a blessing.
