We are — as a family, as a team, as an industry — devastated by the sudden loss of our dear friend, Pierre Trimbach.

Pierre was a truly towering figure in the world of wine. As a winemaker, his relentless commitment to precision and terroir expression established Maison Trimbach as a benchmark for Alsace wines. As a colleague, Pierre’s generosity, quiet warmth, and passion for knowledge has inspired countless others.

Our thoughts are with the entire Maison Trimbach family at this difficult time, especially Pierre’s wife Paulette; daughters Anne and Frédérique; grandchildren Jeanne, Gaspard, Emma, and Léo; brother Jean; and niece and nephew Pauline and Julien.

May the memory of Pierre’s extraordinary life and his enduring legacy be a blessing.

⭐️ This newly introduced category shines a light on those who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to sustainability — something Col d’Orcia’s proprietors, Count Francesco Marone Cinzano and his son, Santiago, thoroughly embody.

⭐️ As standard bearers in Montalcino, Col d’Orcia has a boundless commitment to their certified organic land, which is undergoing targeted conversion to biodynamic farming. Their world-class winemaking is furthered through research on clonal selection, cover crop experimentation, erosion control, and carbon footprint reduction, in partnership with the University of Florence.

⭐️ Under the leadership of Count Cinzano and Santiago, the estate has become a model for , , and environmental stewardship. Among their other notable environmental accomplishments, Col d’Orcia has earned the EQUALITAS Sustainable Winery certification and the distinguished SNAIL Award from Slow Wine.

Fontanafredda was one of the first-ever estates to release a bottle of nebbiolo wine labeled “Barolo” *and* the first estate in history to release a single commune-designated Barolo, their Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba DOCG.

They continue this proud, pioneering tradition today at their 250-acre property in Serralunga d’Alba — a cru site of Barolo, it is the single largest contiguous wine estate in the Langhe.
