STAND BY FOR MORE WIND 😬 ... Thursday is going to be another very windy day with gusts from 40 to 50 MPH across much of eastern South Dakota, and 30 to 40 mph across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. There will likely be more blowing dust. This is the wind forecast for noon Friday.

Enjoy the calm weather today while you can.

In addition to the wind, the warm temperatures and low humidity will create elevated to critical fire weather conditions tomorrow and especially Friday. Friday won't be quite as windy, but the humidity will be lower. Humidity is a major factor when it comes to how quickly wildfire can spread. The drier the air, the easier it is for fires to ignite and rapidly get out of control.
