Join our dynamic team as a Kettle Corn Cook/Popper/ Laborer and bring joy to countless customers with freshly made, delicious kettle corn! In this lively role, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and packaging high-quality kettle corn using specialized equipment. Your enthusiasm and attention to food safety will ensure every batch is perfect, creating memorable experiences for visitors at fairs, festivals, or retail locations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop culinary skills in a fast-paced, food production environment while contributing to a fun and energetic atmosphere.
Duties
Operate commercial popcorn kettles to produce consistent, high-quality kettle corn according to established recipes and procedures
Measure ingredients accurately using basic math skills to ensure proper flavor balance and texture
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards by following DPH (Department of Health) and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) protocols throughout the production process
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to prevent overcooking or burning, ensuring food safety and product quality
Package finished kettle corn efficiently while maintaining proper food handling practices
Conduct routine cleaning of equipment and work area to uphold sanitation standards
Assist with inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying supervisors when restocking is needed
Possible event set up (tent/trailer as needed)
Running a cash register as needed.
Requirements
Great customer service skills.
Prior experience in cooking, food preparation, or food industry roles such as restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred
Knowledge of food safety standards including DPH and CGMP guidelines
Mechanical knowledge of popcorn machines or similar food processing equipment is a plus
Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for ingredient measurements and portioning
Strong understanding of sanitation practices and food handling procedures
Basic cooking skills and familiarity with food industry safety protocols are advantageous
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy bags (50 lbs) or equipment (ex. large propane tanks) and perform repetitive tasks efficiently
Must be available any day of the week and work as late as midnight as our event times vary.
