Did you know: chickens need 4 ounces of protein per chicken per day?! These little treats give them a boost, especially during heavy production times. Cowboy is the lead rooster around here, we have 7 guys at the moment. Cowboy has a tough job keeping everyone safe and in line so I make sure he gets in on the treats too by hand feeding him ❤️ what a cutie!

It might be snowing but with just a little more sunlight, our hens are on fire and laying eggs like crazy! Our fridges are now full of fresh, pasture-raised eggs. As CEO (Chief Executive in Overalls) of Benny Boy Farm, I’m excited to share that we’ve launched our “Protein to the People” Egg Drive to get this abundance into the hands of neighbors who need it most.

Protein is often one of the hardest nutrients to access for families facing rising food costs, seniors on fixed incomes, students, and others experiencing food insecurity — and shifting SNAP regulations may make that even harder.

3/17/25 The little babies are already 25 days old and getting big so fast! The weather is getting better quickly and they are going outside in the mobile chicken tractor this week! 🐓 🐥

We have us another round of chicken hospital going on here at Benny boy Farm. One of our little resident egg layers, Buffalo Tracy, has a Bumble-foot and we’ve been treating it. She’s an easy patient and seems to be grateful for our help. We always try to spoil them a little bit after we have to treat them for anything. Little Tracy just wants to sleep in Jacob’s jacket.
