They are particularly excited about the leaves starting to turn. Apparently, leaves are the goat equivalent to potato chips, and they’ve been making their way around the farm eating as many as they can find. Honestly, it’s great. No raking!

Well, this is awkward.

No farm dinner tonight as planned because three different weather forecasts were predicting a whole lot of rain. And then… nothing.

As we say in Colombia, "nos dejaron con los crespos hechos". We got all ready for the rain, and the rain made other plans.

In 10 years of hosting farm dinners, this is only the third time we’ve had to reschedule because of rain, and the first time the rain forgot to show up. But the forecasts looked pretty rough, and we decided not to take a chance.

The good news? The dinner is rescheduled for Saturday, October 17th, and since some folks are being rescheduled to different dates, we now have few tickets available for next weekend.

So, if you’d like to join us, this is your chance!

We’ve spent a good portion of the summer fixing things the goats have broken, which, at this point, is practically a full-time job. Because if they can break it, they will.

Product Review: Goat (Buttercup)
Model: 2017 LaMancha

We've had this unit for 9 years and, overall, she's been fantastic. Relatively low maintenance, very affectionate, and surprisingly durable. We did have an issue early on when she broke a leg, but that was an easy fix.

Recently, though, she's developed a minor software glitch.

She'll occasionally freeze mid-task like someone hit the pause button. Today's glitch: she climbed into a bucket, took one perfectly good mouthful of hay and just froze.

No chewing. No swallowing. Just staring into the distance while slowly looking left, then right, still holding the same mouthful of hay like she's buffering.

A gentle reboot (calling her name) usually restores normal function, but it may take up to a minute or two. If you have one of these units, don't panic. Just be patient and try to reboot.

Would still recommend this unit. Just wish the manufacturer would release a software update.
