Old Apple Valley Farms is a family owned vegetable and fruit farm as well as a Honey bee Apiary in western Loudoun County. Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB). For this year's farm tour we will have the usual bee hive demonstration (see below) and we will be selling our own Honey and beeswax items. We normally sell out of honey quickly. It is First Come First Serve. Other products we may have available are chestnuts and pears, and perhaps some vegetables (Tomatoes or peppers, depending on weather). We also sell our pond muck KOI pond fish emulsion which is a great general use plant fertilizer. We will feed the Koi at 4:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, a nice treat for the children to see. We also have hand crafted wooden shelves in various sizes, some with a “live edge”. Other products include Heritage corn husk flowers, various organically grown vegetables and fruit.
Our family includes many generations of farming and agriculture from Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Ireland. It includes Olive groves, Hazelnut groves, dairy, beef, wheat, oats, corn, hay, etc, over hundreds of years. Take a picture of your children on a John Deere tractor. The bee presentation will include seeing all the parts of a hive (without the bees) and a detailed description of their life cycle. Children will get to taste honey straight from the honey comb frame, if they wish and dress up in a bee bonnet so that they can pretend to be a "beekeeper". Our demo will be limited to our front patio area with parking available in the field. We ask that all individuals keep a safe distance from the apiary. Please come out and visit with us!
