Welcome to Blegen Galloways - Roundup, MT has a semi-arid climate with warm summers and cold winters. Temperatures range from about -30-100+ degrees Fahrenheit.
We get 14 inches of precipitation, on average, per year. The US average is 38 inches of rain per year. It takes 28 acres per AUM to graze cattle. Most of our acres were farmed for years, then put back to grass - short grass, crested wheat. Not much native grass but sage brush. So management and thinking outside the box is critical. That's what we do and our Galloway herd adapts to it.
