Today marks the end of an ERA. The very first Facebook post by Foster Farm included a picture of our patriarch, Frankie Flowers, or Baron as he is best known. So it is fitting that our last would be of him too.
Baron wasn't just a horse, he was a whole vibe. From his stubborn ways when you thought you knew the way (he would quickly remind you who was the boss) to his complete surrender when a small child was involved, Baron was the BEST. He loved teaching riders of all skill sets and proved to be invaluable in teaching the youngsters to carriage drive too.
It would be next to impossible to count the number of enthusiasts Baron introduced to saddlebreds in the past 20+ years. From his roots in Minnesota to the countless riders in North Texas, his mark will long be remembered by those who knew him and loved him.
There is no doubt that he is snorting and running free in the great beyond....with a little less tail because he is so loved.
The Best Horses in Heaven, They Have No Tail
The best horses in Heaven
they have no tail.
This is a rule they all know
without fail.
For when a new horse arrives
with a short cut bob,
they all know that this horse
did a very good job.
His owner could not bear
to part with her friend
so she saved his tail,
wrapped in ribbons
and in braids,
to hold with his memory
in a very loving way.
To enter Heaven
without a tail
is an honor,
a message,
that without fail
announces to everyone,
far and wide
that this horse
was more than a wonderful ride.
But
this horse was loved and cherished by one
and when his time serving on this Earth was done
he left behind
a broken heart
and a soul
from which he never will part.
