To Our Dear Farm Community,
ππ There are so many days that bring us SO much joy. But then there are days like today that are simply heartbreaking. ππ
Today, our team has experienced an excessive amount of theft in our pick-your-own fields including individuals bringing additional bags into the orchards, intentionally not following our picking guidelines, hiding fruit, and attempting to leave with hundreds of dollars of fruit that was not paid for.
We never want our farm to feel like a place where we need to police our guests. Trust, hospitality and welcoming people onto this land are at the heart of what we do. But sadly, when that trust is repeatedly taken advantage of, we have to respond.
Because of what we are experiencing today, you may see members of our team checking bags as guests leave our pick-your-own areas. We know this can feel uncomfortable or unexpected, and frankly, we hate that our amazing staff are being put in the position of having to do it.
Your assistance, patience and kindness is so appreciated as we ask that you please follow our posted picking guidelines, use only the containers included with your admission, and check in with our team if you have questions.
Farming is our livelihood. The fruit in these fields represents an entire year (and many decades) of work pruning in the winter, tending blossoms in the spring, caring for crops all summer, and employing a rockstar team of people who work tremendously hard to create this experience while preserving the farm for future generations.
To the overwhelming majority of you who visit our farm, follow the rules, treat our staff with kindness, and respect the land and the work behind it: THANK YOU. β€οΈ We love opening this farm to you - our community. We want to continue doing it with trust at the center of the experience.
Please help us keep it that way. ππ³ If you aren't clear about the rules posted, please ask.
- Your Cider Hill Farm Team
