Eight Arrows Farm

Eight Arrows Farm We are a family-owned farm located in Roxboro, NC. We currently raise chickens, turkeys, and pigs. For years they have researched different farm philosophies.

It has been a dream of the Mangum family to have a small self sustaining farm. Last August, they were blessed with an opportunity to move to a beautiful piece of land, where they could put their ideas into practice. Since then, the Mangums have been raising laying hens, which get moved in their egg mobile to ensure they get fresh grass often. Using chicken tractors, their Cornish cross broilers ar

e moved daily. After being processed these broilers weight between 4-5 pounds. Turkeys, rabbits, and ponies also occupy the farm land! The couple's eight arrows enjoy feeding, holding, and caring for all the different animals.

Edit: We’ve found a home for our dogs! The crazy cool thing is they’ll be living about 10 mins from us! How good is our God? They will be living on a farm with a loving family. Thanks for sharing our post.

It is time for us to find a new home for our beloved Pyrenees. Harper and Bailey are 5 years old. They have guarded our farm animals their entire life. Both are great with kids and keeping predators out. They know their job! Bailey has not been neutered but Harper has been spayed. We really want to see them go to a loving farm family where they will be treated with kindness and respect while being allowed to do their job.

I haven’t posted in a while. We are still in between Roxboro and Angier. While it is still considered country living here, there are numerous changes for us.

Tonight while cooking I kept wanting to keep the scraps for the pigs. I’ll need to get used to just throwing things away. We also hear the cars that drive down the street. I have any store that I want within 10 mins., including restaurant options for days! In the last two days I’ve ordered grocery pickup from Walmart, Harris Teeter, and SAME DAY delivery from Amazon! 🤯 I can definitely get used to that.

The one thing I’m not willing to compromise is food. We’ve been living off our farm for the last 9 years. We’ve only eaten the meat we’ve raised or bought from another farmer. Today we made the trip to to visit with our farm friends and buy their delicious food.

We’ll adjust here, I’m sure. But I really don’t want to get comfortable buying my food from strangers. Farmers markets here I come! (As a customer now!)

We miss you all! Hopefully, I’ll find time to post as we adjust here and find our new normal. ❤️

9 years ago our family started this farm journey. It has been hard but so rewarding. We’ve learned to care for our land, rotate animals, dispatch chickens, turkeys, rabbits, we’ve learned the different cuts of meat, we’ve researched the difference between non gmo and organic, our convictions grew the more we learned, we’ve served our community with the healthiest and most nutrient dense food that there can be, and we’ve enjoyed the fruit of our labors! It’s truly been the most rewarding job ever!

Our family has entered a new season. Martie has been hired to be the preaching pastor at Kennebec Baptist Church in Angier, NC. I (Heather) continue to support homeschoolers as the Regional Sales Manager for Classical Conversations. We are also still educating our youngest children at home.

We no longer have the margin for farming. We will also be transitioning to Angier to live. We will not be selling the farm. We’ve invested in this land and want to keep it in our family.

We will still attend the farmers market for now, but those days are also numbered. We will keep you all posted when we know our official end date.

We are so thankful for your love, devotion, and commitment to our family and our farm. We hope to keep up and share our journey via social media. We appreciate your understanding. ❤️
