Not every harvest goes exactly as planned.

Unfortunately, our first planting of sweet corn won't make it to our wholesale market this year. The severe drought took its toll, resulting in poor pollination, irregular kernel development, and smaller ears.

The good news is that it's still perfectly edible for our local customers. We never spray our sweet corn with insecticides, so you may find an occasional cornworm. We simply cut off that end and enjoy the rest—it's a small tradeoff for fresh, naturally grown corn.

That's farming. You do everything you can, but in the end, Mother Nature has the final say.

The best news? Our second planting is looking strong, and if the weather cooperates, we should have some beautiful sweet corn coming soon. Here's hoping for a better finish to the season! 🌽🚜🌦️

Meet Buster — the new Berkshire boar on the farm 🐖

He’s stepping in to fill some big shoes after Big Willie, who’s still around at 8 years old and enjoying retirement like he earned it. His stud days might be behind him, but he’s still king of the yard.

The rest of the crew is doing just fine too, spending their days rooting, relaxing, and cooling off in the wallow like pigs are meant to.

Life’s good when you’ve got mud, feed, and a place to call home.

Got the old girl all greased up and ready to roll for another season 🌽

She may be rusty and older than most folks would bother with, but she still plants straight and true every single year. There’s something about keeping these old machines going that just feels right.

Now if only fertilizer didn’t cost about the same as a left kidney this year 😅

Here’s to long days, straight rows, and a good stand of sweet corn. Let’s get after it.
