The ranunculus are out of hand. Since we are nine months to a year out from a farmstand, I'm just enjoying the blooms. The dining table is so full we can't eat at it, the work on the house rebuild is still happening, re-infrastructuring is still in babysteps progress, so pleasure picking has even come to a halt.

My brother called, and we were catching each other up with our projects. He was speaking of his resort and kept saying ROI. So I finally asked, "What is ROI?"
"Return on investment," was his reply.
I howled! "Well no wonder I didn't know what that meant!" Not only have I not seen an ROI, I don't expect I ever will.

Well, I do indeed have ROI, unseen, uncountable, unbankable by the world. My ROI's, such as they are, are in another Kingdom.

My poor little stocks that should have been planted a while ago. Are finally snuggled in. The rows are 7inches apart (4 across on a 30" bed) with 5 inch spacing in the rows. I'm thinking they could have been closer, but we will see.

They are a one cut and done and should be out long before my autumn flowers go in around August.

Ranunculus are planted and put to bed, hopefully a good turn out of flowers in May and June. Next year maybe I'll get them going earlier and have some February blooms, ooh ooh, if only.

90' of 4 rows on a 30" wide bed, 5" apart in the rows, with extra space between varieties. 6 hours. Listened to 6 episodes of The No-till Flowers podcast by Jennie Love, very encouraging and enlightening.

No bending over, no being on my knees, all planted while squating. No lunch break, only standing to move down the bed, bring in the flats from the other hoop house and to drink water 3 times. Yep, my gluten maximus are screaming.

Sometimes ya whine and cry and run for the hydrogen peroxide and bandaids. And sometimes ya laugh, wonder how that sprung a leak, and keep on working.

Took a keep-your-lungs-inside-your-chest break from farm work since Christmas. Back to it today, with my new work hat I made while I was sick. I was too hot to wear my hat! It was a good day. I'll get a tarp and finish my tool shed/office this coming week.
