We have a (rare occurring)last minute whole pork share available with USDA processing appointment available this week. This guy was born and raised on pasture and fed locally grown and milled feed as well as seasonal fruits and vegetables. He has had no vaccines, hormones , antibiotics or garbage. Price is $5.50/lb hanging weight. Price includes your choice of cuts, USDA processing and vacuum packaging for long freezer life. Smoking and some sausage options are extra. (Deposit is required prior to drop off for choice of cuts) PM quickly if interested, appointment is on Wednesday.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge Indigenous Peoples Day.

One of my proudest moments ever, was several years ago when our local historian, Larry Buell, took the time to drive out to the farm I was managing in Petersham, MA to introduce me to this gentleman. I was honored, beyond belief, when he introduced me to David Tall Pine White, a spiritual leader and "Keeper of the Language of the Nipmuc Tribe". He introduced me as "The Keeper of the Land". Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years ago, but I did have the pleasure to meet with him on a couple more occasions prior to his passing.

Being a steward of the land has always come naturally to me. I vow that I will forever do my part, to the best of my ability, to continue my efforts to protect and preserve this sacred ground. In the memory of David, the Indigenous people and all of the stewards before me, this I promise.

ROYALSTON FALL FAIR

This Saturday, October 19th from 10 to 3! This is a rain or shine event on the beautiful common of Royalston, Massachusetts. So far, the weather looks very promising for a warm and beautiful day!!

So many great and talented local farmers and vendors will be joining us this year! There will be music, pony rides and free hay rides! There will be games for the kids, a sheep dog demo, some great food being served and a great display of tractors and farm equipment. In addition, our fire department will be hosting one of their famous chicken barbecues (to be served at 1 o'clock)!!

On your way out, stop by Divoll's Farm's table and pick up some local meat. We will have our portable freezer stocked with grass finished beef and grain fed (never garbage!), pasture pork that was born and humanely raised right here in North Central Massachusetts!

When it is 53 degrees at 8 pm with downpours, 30 at 11:30 with sleet and 23 at 3 am with frozen doors and wind speeds that are destroying the greenhouse, this girl is not going to sleep because Lucy here is threatening to have her babies. Her milk line has dropped, she is restless, and her breathing tells me she may be having contractions. She could still drag it out a couple more days, but I will continue to check on her praying she waits until the arctic blast passes us. Please excuse the zombie over the next few days.

I love when the pigs give me gifts. We are third generation on this property, and I like to imagine working with the older generations back then. I picture a little bay horse, strong as an ox, plowing the garden with Elton, while John (my father in law) and his brothers tagged along. (I can vaguely remember my grandfather and father doing this in Petersham). Or maybe it was from one of the horses that John used to ride about town on....

After 21 years managing Chimney Hill Farm, it was time for me to make a change. I am still farming, and am still breeding and raising heritage breed pigs on pasture and woods. My new husband and I have combined and acquired a nice herd of beef cattle. We spend our summers making hay on approximately 200 acres of owned and leased land in North Central Massachusetts. I am not sure how involved I will be with this page going forward, but I wanted to hold onto my memories and accomplishments at Chimney Hill Farm, while giving the new managers opportunity to create and manage their own page if they desire.
