We have been growing the same way for years. Hoe in hand, physically walking the field to keep the weeds to a minimum. It is a process, and by the end of each season gets to be overwhelming, but every year we start over again. This summer we joined the organic grassroots organization 'Certified Naturally Grown" and last week they reached out to us for an interview about farming garlic. You can read the blog post here:

Garden grows, pigs get more scraps, Pigs grow. What a wonderful cycle with zero waste.

We are in the middle of freezing corn for the winter while at the same time eating lots of fresh corn on the cob. The pigs and chickens have full bellies and happy hearts every night as they drift off to sleep. We make sure all of our animals have their best lifes.

Prepping more cups for herbs. I get these little shot glasses at walmart, use a sharp knife to create drainage in the bottom of each cup and the put in my seed start soil, seeds, and water.
Some plants will need to be repotted before going in the garden, but this is the cheapest way I have found for starting my seeds.
