Hi ya'll! It's been a crazy, busy few months here on the ranch. The first batches of silkies and polish have graduated to the outdoor coop. I'm pretty sure we a equal mix of roos & pullets. There were a few mishaps with my orders so I ended up with a few extra breeds just to keep the numbers equal. Kept to bantys tho. They'll be old enough to get thru this winter and I'll have new lines for breeding projects next year! All thanks to God and my hunky ranch boss!

Wonderful Janneke released her hostages late January. Few weeks later it was finally warm enough to let them play in the sun! The colorful doeling is Angelic Josefita and the red buckling is Drops of Jupiter.

I've decided. I'm going to sell half my yarn. Sorting the ones I want most. Maybe only 50 skeins instead of half. Winding so many loose, smaller ones. Maybe only 30. Pairing some for different projects. Maybe just 15. I'm helping with the crochet class in like Sept. Maybe I'll just take these 5 to the Stitching Bee class instead...

This is Echo. Our house cat. Crazy girl is constantly zooming, getting stepped on because she needs to be under foot. She's a diva in every way. She'll take over half the bed if we let her! She's dramatic if her food or water is OnLy HaLf FuLl. 😆 But she has a very important job. She's THE reason we don't see mice inside our home anymore. She's THE reason we don't have droppings everywhere. We tried various deterrents and traps for years. All that wasted time and money. Finally decided to try a cat. We trained her for the first year. After she caught her first, the game was on! She's always on the hunt and rather successful. Only "complaint" I have is that she likes showing off her new toy and wants to share... WITH ME! Sometimes tossing it in the air at me or chasing me around the house with it!!! Sometimes, squeaker's still alive... So while we both HATE the litter box, we love our Oche McGoo.

Sorry for the long post but I wasn't sure how to post about this... we had our first loss of a baby. 😢 While the baby barn is draft free, the temps went -8°! Baby's were cuddling with momma when they weren't playing or nursing. 1 boy was on one side while the other boy and girl were on the other side. Our best guess is she rolled trying to get up and the weight broke his ribs. He was brought him in and wrapped up with a heating pad. The took his temp. At first it was so low the thermometer couldn't read anything. Warmed him and called our vet. I hadn't unwrapped him for fear he'd lose the heat. He passed a hour later. I didn't take his body out of the towel to check anything out. I was just too heartbroken. Dr B took a look when she came and saw the injury. While I'm grateful it wasn't something genetic, it's still a loss that I hated. There's been very few loses on our ranch but each one was a learning experience.

And faster than I could get the bibs on, Janneke had her kiddos! 2 bucks and 1 doe. 1 buckling is inside, I know, I know... but he couldn't maintain his body heat. Praying everyone makes it. ❤️

We're officially on baby watch! Long range baby monitors have been a great investment! It doesn't have good range of motion but I can see and hear enough to know when to go running!
