With all the heartbreak after losing Spooky’s buckling that evening, life found a way yesterday within the next hour.
After being in the barn all day checking and watching Spooky, and completing her vet visit at 7pm; I decided to prep the barn for the evening for when we typically bring everybody inside at about 9pm. I did my usual, set feed and water. I wasn’t going to ask my husband for help tonight since he had been cutting down a huge pine tree all day that had taken out our power lines after storms and wind the other night. It had been a day already! I went ahead and put the mommas and babies from inside the barn into their pens and was going to head to the house for a meal before bringing in the pastured goats. Then, something changed my mind and I decided to just bring them all in early and be done. I could get a nice hot shower and meal then relax for the rest of the evening. So I opened the barn doors to the back pasture. All the girls were standing at the gate……………..except one white spot in the dark near the trampoline.
CHAOS!!!!!! Twin babies out in the cold for I don’t know how long! I ran out & scooped up the floppy laid out flat kid and then grabbed the one that at least had a cry and head up. Ran to the barn with momma behind me straight to the heater! Body temps unregistered on the 1st and only 90.2 degrees on the other.
Two hours with stimulation and constant heat……we have both kids with an attentive momma actively nursing.
