As we settle into summer, availability across the farm is starting to wind down. It happens every year — the heat arrives, production slows, and the animals remind us they’re on their own schedule, not ours.

Right now, we do have a few extras available:

🐦 Coturnix quail- 2-5 week old assorted standards.
🐖 Gloucestershire Old Spot breeder gilts and we are taking deposits for pairs and trios ready Aug 1. Many have met the standards to be registered.
🔥 A few pigs that should be just the right size for a Fourth of July roast
🐐 One Nigerian Dwarf buck looking for a new herd

I have slots available for poultry processing if you are needing some birds processed. I’ll be cleaning up the cockerel growouts as pullets leave but offer the service if anyone needs it!

It’s always funny how spring feels nonstop and then suddenly summer arrives and everything hits the brakes. It’s been an odd season starting with freeze and then summer heat. That’s farm life for you!

We were honored to participate in a fundraiser to help support a family who recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of their infant. Through the fundraiser, we were fortunate to win some absolutely beautiful quail eggs.

A huge thank you to 5 Little Quail Homestead for organizing the fundraiser and helping bring everyone together for such a meaningful cause. An extra special thank you to Guidroz Family Farm for the bonus eggs—your generosity is so appreciated!

Along with the eggs, we also received a wonderful collection tray and some fun extra goodies. Of course, Sulley happily volunteered as the official model and got to sport some of the extra swag. 🐶❤️

I can’t wait to see what hatches from these beautiful eggs and hopefully add some more progressive pieds to the covey.

Most importantly, our thoughts and prayers remain with the family during this incredibly difficult time. It is heartwarming to see the quail community come together to support one another when it matters most.

It may seem early, but Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! Our Thanksgiving turkeys are arriving next week, and the website has been updated with this year’s information.

As with everything in agriculture, input costs have increased, and pricing has been adjusted accordingly to reflect the rising costs of feed, supplies, and production. The birds will be fed Non GMO since we had great feedback last season. We always strive to keep our products affordable while continuing to provide the quality and care you expect from us.

Planning ahead helps ensure availability, so if a farm-fresh turkey is part of your holiday plans, now is the perfect time to start thinking ahead.

Thank you for supporting local agriculture and understanding the realities of raising food animals responsibly. We appreciate each and every one of you!

It’s so funny how every animal is different with what they like. In our case, one line of Gloucestershire Old Spots absolutely devours watermelon, while the other line acts like we’ve personally offended them by offering it. 😂🍉🐷

Same breed, same farm, same treat… completely different opinions. One group comes running for watermelon season, and the other looks at us like, “Excuse me, where are the snacks we actually requested?”

Just another reminder that animals have their own personalities, preferences, and quirks—and that’s one of the things that makes raising them so much fun. ❤️

Of course we’re outside working on projects during the hottest heat index of the year. ☀️🥵

Too many projects to do and never enough time, but that’s farm life! Between chores, repairs, and everything else on the to-do list, the work doesn’t stop just because it’s hot.

Thankfully, these beautiful sunflowers are putting on a show and reminding us to slow down for a moment and enjoy the little things. 🌻💛

One of my favorite photos of Ezekiel (“Zeke”) with Absolutely Stellar Masquerade Ball, one of our Nigerian Dwarf doe from last season. ❤️

There is just something special about the bond between livestock guardians and the animals they watch over. Zeke has always had a gentle soul, and moments like these remind me why I fell in love with Komondors. Their loyalty, intelligence, and calm presence make them such incredible dogs.

I may be a little biased, but I think Komondors are truly one of the most remarkable breeds. 🐾

I have been a little quiet lately. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, and sometimes that means social media takes a back seat. The farm will always come first. ❤️

Thank you for your patience! I’ll be catching up on messages this weekend.

In the meantime, I had to share this adorable little Coturnix quail chick. Somehow this little one managed to wear a feather like a fancy eyelash, and I just can’t get over it. 😂
