I am very sad to announce that major life changes have forced the closure of Eden’s Bounty. I am so thankful to all of my patrons and have absolutely loved my little farm while it lasted. It breaks my heart to have to rehome my birds whom I love so dearly, but I have no choice. Please pray for me as I transition and that I am able to find loving homes for all of my feather babies. I have faith that one day God will allow me the blessing of having a farm again.

We have ceased eggs sales for the remainder of the year. The girls are molting and have stopped laying. We do not anticipate them starting back up until the spring. Thank you to all of our faithful supporters! We look forward to sharing our eggs with you in the spring!

We took a hard hit last night. We moved the meat birds up to the tractor last night and lost all of them to a predator attack. We’ve never had an issue before… but this time we weren’t so lucky. We don’t know what got in but we will work on setting up an electric fence or some other kind of predator deterrent.

Our Jackie Broilers and Turkey Poults from Freedom Ranger Hatchery arrived and everyone looks great! Four of them needed a quick soak as some pasty butt was starting from their long journey but they’re feeling good now! 😊

Egg sales have officially resumed for 2024! Here’s a quick video explaining how the bloom of an egg works. Eggs have over 7,000 micro pores on their surface that allow the egg to breathe and sustain life if it is fertilized. The purpose of the bloom is the cover them with a protective barrier that allows some air to pass through but not bacteria. How cool is that?! Our creator sure knew what He was doing!

Here at Eden’s Bounty we believe in raising our hens naturally. We do not use artificial lighting in our coops to force our hens to lay throughout the winter as is practice in commercial egg production. Most of our girls have already stopped laying for the year and won’t start back up until spring, but we believe all good things are worth waiting for! As a result we have ceased egg sales for the remainder of the fall and winter. We say thank you to our loyal egg customers this year and we look forward to being able to share our wonderful eggs with you in the spring! God bless!

Processing day went well. The birds weighed in larger than we anticipated and the average was just under 5lbs. There was a distinct visual difference from the last batch of Cornish Cross. The Imperial Red Broilers were long and lean with equal dark and white meat portions as compared to the Cornish that are known for their large breast portion. We have already begun to receive reviews of their exceptional flavor and this will definitely be a breed we raise again in the future. We hope to raise even more birds in the spring and plan to move to a heritage breed that can be sustainably raised on our farm giving us control of the entire process from egg to straight through to processing.

We are excited to offer our own Pasture Raised Organic chicken. They are 100% antibiotic free and have been raised with love. They have grown into large, beautiful, healthy birds and their meat should be exceptional. They are set to be processed tomorrow. We expect them to dress out anywhere between 4.25lbs and 5lbs each. Price is $6.50/lb. If you are interested in purchasing a chicken(s) please reach out to Melissa directly or via this post. If you reserve tonight you can opt for whole or pieced (split into breast, wing, leg). Otherwise the birds will be kept whole. Reach us before Sunday night to ensure the birds are fresh otherwise we will be forced to freeze them.

Had a record breaking egg today! This was NOT laid by a turkey but is in fact from a Plymouth White Rock chicken!! Well over 100 grams (standard grocery store eggs are about 60 grams).
