👩‍⚕️ Vet Visits happened today! Our vet happily reported everyone to be in good health, growing well with excellent body condition, and clear fecals! ❤️
Health certificates were printed and are included in all folders, along with health records, and lots of other paperwork to ensure successful puppyhood for these babies!
🐾 Cocoa and Cinnamon are still available, so if you're looking to add a pup to your family, send me a message or apply through our Good Dog website!

🏡 Puppies are ready to go home starting Monday, February 16th!
Puppies are all UTD on wormings and vaccines, will be microchipped and registered through AKCReunite, and have health guarantees and certificates!

🐾 Crate Exposure starts this week.. The goal? For families who utilize a crate, this allows for early exposure to the concept. Crates can be used for safety while families are away from home or for safe spaces with the door open where dogs are allowed to have their own space to separate from overstimulation or other pets in the home.
🏡 We also hope to give them a head start on the idea of separation between their resting area and the potty area.

The Australian Shepherd

Breed Group: Herding

Australian Shepherds are a beautiful breed with merle coats, high energy, and and an obsession with being close to their families. These dogs are wonderful family companions, but be prepared to keep them active and occupied to avoid having a sad, destructive Aussie.

Behavior

Australian Shepherds are smart, loyal, and eager to learn. They have lively personalities and are known to behave like puppies well into adulthood. Aussies are hopelessly devoted to their owners and bond closely with their families. However, they’re also prone to developing separation anxiety, so be sure to balance togetherness with alone time so your Aussie doesn’t get too attached.

Coat

The Australian Shepherd has a dense undercoat and outer coat with medium to long hair that’s straight or slightly wavy. Aussies’ fur is short and soft on their head and legs, with a thick mane around the neck. These dogs can be black, red, red merle, or blue merle, and some may have white markings or tan points too. Although their hair is long, Australian Shepherds don’t need much grooming. Give them a thorough brushing (especially during shedding season), and only bathe them after a good romp in the mud.

Lifestyle

Australian Shepherds are great companion for kids and other pets, especially if they’re socialized as puppies. They’re territorial by nature and may be shy around strangers, but deep down, they’re affectionate and kind. Aussies get easily bored and need to have people around them. Without enough exercise or socialization, they may develop separation anxiety or become destructive. These dogs can be happy in warm or cool climates, but they need plenty of space to run and play and should have their primary living space indoors.

Activity

Aussies need a lot of high-energy activities and mental stimulation to keep them happy. They’re the perfect exercise buddies, especially for families that like being outdoors. Take your Australian Shepherd for a run, hike, or a long play session in a big backyard to keep their hearts soaring and their minds sharp.
