We’ve been talking about Barbara a lot this week and we figured you might be curious; why Barbara? In tradition, every tractor at Morisoli Vineyard is named after its original owner. This 1952 Ford 8N was owned by Barbara and T***s Bommarito since it was bought new in St. Helena.

The Bommarito Family name is synonymous with old school Napa Valley since their multi-generational family has been farming here since the 1930s. Everyone who lived in St. Helena for a while remembers T***s and Barbara. T***s would drive his Caterpillar D2 and Barbara would drive behind him in her Ford while farming their vineyard on Galleron Lane.

When our friends Jim Bachor and his mom Lynn Bommarito looked for a new home for Barbara, we took her in, got her restored back to showroom quality and parked her next to T***s’ original D2 Caterpillar. Together again.

Farming isn’t always about the short term issues that captivate our daily attention — wavering over yields, new farming fads or the Napa Valley Average for Cabernet. Rather the core of farming focuses on the long term and keeping history alive while remembering those who got us here as we all move ahead.
