Frog's Leap Winery

Frog's Leap Winery Wines of terroir, responsibly farmed, sustainably produced and joyfully shared (not to mention family owned and operated 😉) since 1981.
(2153)

Frog’s Leap was founded by John Williams in 1981. Started on a shoestring budget even the name itself was ‘borrowed’ by combining Stag’s Leap, where John started his Napa Valley winemaking career, and the Frog Farm, where the early vintages were made. The winery was relocated in 1994 when John and his family moved Frog’s Leap to the historic Red Barn in the heart of the Rutherford appellation. Thi

s grand and welcoming building was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and sits amongst some of our 200 acres of estate grown vineyards. Over the past 30 years Frog’s Leap has earned an enviable reputation with our unique combination of a whimsical label, sincere dedication to sustainable principles and our small, handcrafted production of wines. Over the years to come we look forward growing and learning more about ourselves, our wines and how we can share it all with honesty and genuine hospitality.

For the first time in its history, our old Red Barn played happy host to some exceptional Country Music greats, including Sunny Sweeney, The Braun Brothers, Wade Bowen, Shelby Stone and Cody Canada. The sounds were never sweeter, the sun came out and (we hope) the tanks added a little something. What a great event! 🫶🍷🙌🌈🤩

We’ve got a lot of fun harvest photos to share but today as we usher in the Fall equinox we are taking a moment to pause in our September garden and share its lesson of abundance, and of letting go.
Vibrant summer crops are giving way to a quieter kind of beauty. The marigolds that fed our soil are pushing their last blooms, amaranth paints the paths with vibrant seed, Apricotta cosmos glow and graceful late summer anemones sway on sturdy stems, gilded in the late afternoon light.

What story is being told in your garden, friends? Take a pause to look and share your thoughts below✨🍂

With gratitude for the poetry of Mary Oliver and the one and only Nat King Cole for their assistance teeing up this message of seasonal transition.

And now, back to

Cheers to Taylor and Travis 🥂Oh and to the start of Harvest 2025!

“Stuff that was ludicrous 15 years ago is no longer ludicrous.” A quote from our very own Rory Williams, who was featured in a profile in the this week by wine editor about his Calder Wine project and ongoing work at Frog’s Leap. We dug up a picture from an early harvest (2013) and another from 2024 while we wait for his 2025 efforts to kick off. If you’ve got a subscription be sure to check it out! !
