It is from a handful of the most select Napa vineyards that Rutherford Hill continues its tradition of crafting legendary wines. In 1976, while the rest of the world was just beginning to take notice of Napa Valley, our founders recognized a unique opportunity. The Terlato Family believed that the climate and soil of the valley-similar to Pomerol-were well suited to the lush, purple-black grapes of Merlot and were among the first to pioneer what has become Napa’s premier varietal. Today, this tradition of quality continues, expressed by wines of great complexity and character. The guiding vision for our family-owned winery is to make a Napa Valley Merlot that is supple and refined-but we haven’t stopped at Merlot. Marisa Taylor leads the talented winemaking team at Rutherford Hill, crafting award-winning and world-class Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet. Her acumen for the analytical detail needed for monitoring yeast cultures, barrels, fermentation, blending, and ultimately, bottling makes her perfectly suited for her dual leadership roles at Rutherford Hill.
