Current Hay Specials

Our 1st cutting orchard grass fescue mix hay is now on sale to make room for 1st cutting this year. Very nice hay, w**d free. Every bale is guaranteed.

Hay is on sale at $90/per large square bale, they are multipacks. There is a 10 bale minimum purchase at this price. This price is valid through March 21st. Only a couple hundred available.

2nd cut fescue/orchard is $120/bale.
Timothy orchard is $145
Alfalfa is $200

We have a pre/pay option this year, by popular demand, due to the limited amounts of orchard grass and Timothy we harvest.

Pre purchased pricing on orchard or Timothy is $130/bale. Minimum pre purchase amount is 20 bales. Hay must be recieved, delivered or picked up by July 4th. There is a set amount of pre purchase hay available, 150 orchard an 150 Timothy. The presale will run through the end of March, don't wait as we will not sell more than the set amount.
Due to alot of challenges with tariffs, hurricane related expenses and labor cost, we anticipate Hay prices to be on the rise this year. Our projected pricing for 2025 new crop Hay will be $125 on orchard fescue, $160 on Timothy and orchard.

I have several urgent needs to go ahead and knock out for a few mountain farmers.
Tomorrow- need a few gooseneck to take round bales hay into upper mitchell county to a individual

This week- need a crew or couple guys with a dump trailer and skid steer to help a tiny community and farm dig river rock out from around the church, store and barn.

This week- need a chainsaw crew to help clear trees off a fence and another crew to build the fence back.

Our ag drop point needs fencing supplies. We need everything, but the items we have not received are wooden fence post and gates.
Yes they are more expensive but you can't rebuild without good wood corner post and brace pipe.

We need donut end insulators to terminate fence lines.
We need underground wire.
Woven wire for small ruminants. High tensile and barbed wire. Staples and t post.
We do not need small squares at this time.

Please don't forget our fuel relief fund that is set up at Lutz Petroleum. Call in and tell them you want to pay towards the WNC Ag Fuel Relief Account. This fuel account is being used to offset cost of trucking hay and fuel for work crews. It's probably one of the largest needs.
The number there is 828-286-3419.
Jeff Bradley and Myself are the only people authorized to distribute fuel from that account.

It's amazing what a small local farm Beam Farms and Co Big Bottom Milk Company Preston Green , our partners at Overmountain Vineyards Sofia C Lilly , all the volunteers and farm friends that donated time and money, Rutherford County Extension, Cattlemens Association, NCDA and Farm Bureau can do all the farmers in need.
Thanks to Mack Duncan Jessica Martin Duncan for the fuel relief account start up and AJ Searles Krystle Leigh Owen-Searles for coming up to help assess needs. There's to many folks to name, but I can tell you, if anyone knows us, then they probably helped, and hundreds of folks that don't know us have helped.

Got our first duke power update. October 4th for the 8 power meters we have. I'm sure it will be much longer than that in other areas.

We are operational with generators. If anyone needs milk or water, we will have someone at the creamery every afternoon evening this week from 4 to 7.
Bring water containers if you need water.

We are hiring for the position of hay warehouse manager and hay press operator.
The ideal candidate will understand basic mechanics and hydraulic systems, efficiency in production and will be a self starter.
Truck and trailer experience required.

Responsibilities will include managing daily press operations, building orders and scheduling/loading customers.
Machinery maintenance/trouble shooting.
Occasionally delivery to customers and managing inventory.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, keep records and pass a drug test.
Will be responsible for 1 or 2 employees.
Base pay starts at $22/hour and goes up depending on experience and performance.
