Back-to-School season isn't just for students! 🍎📚🍽️ After a busy first few weeks of school, our associates took the time to come together and continue their professional growth. We're always happy to share best practices, learn from one another, AND identify changes that can help us better serve our schools!

Our first Farmers Market event of the year at Forest City Dunbar Elementary School! Third-grade students were eager to shop the market and make their selections. 🥦🍅🍐🥕🌽

Using Chartwells K12 market cash, students were able to purchase different fruits and vegetables. From squash and zucchini to green and red bell peppers, there was a wide variety to choose from!

With help from their teachers, Chef Billy, RDM Amanda, and Mrs. Tawanana, students worked together to budget their Chartwells K12 market cash, allowing each student to decide which item(s) they wanted most.

In addition to taking their selections home, students also received recipe cards correlating to the different items available at the market! Our hope is that students and their families will take the time to try a new recipe out at home.

Yesterday's "Great American Road Trip" themed Discovery Kitchen featured Warm Spiced Peaches! Made with cinnamon, allspice, and brown sugar, students at R S Middle School loved trying this tasty treat!

Did you know - the first peach orchard in the United States was in Florida in the 16th century? Today, peach orchards can be found throughout the South. Peaches are also a good source of vitamin C, fiber, and potassium, making them a sweet and healthy addition to any meal.

Who says school lunch can't be exciting? Students at R-S Central High School are loving our Pizza Daze promotion and the unique and different menu options!

Today's options featured Pickle Pizza AND BBQ Chicken, Ham, and Pineapple Pizza. 😋

Our first pop-up event of the school year was a success! 🎉🎉🎉

Students at Harris Elementary School Forest City, NC sampled Chef Sizzle's Ranch Power Popcorn - a brand-new item from our Chartwells K12 Nutrition: Game On! program. 🍿🍿🍿

This month's NGO quest is Brain Food - and popcorn is a tasty whole grain treat packed with fiber to give your brain steady energy for thinking, focusing, and staying sharp. Our Mood Boost Moodies even made an appearance, reminding students that what they eat can positively affect how they feel. 💪🧠
