Less than 8 years ago we bought our first Southdown ewe. The goal since then has been the same. We want to raise sound, functional sheep that can compete on either side of the barn. The theme and means to that goal has always been strategy. Strategic purchases that sometimes didn’t make the best financial sense. Strategic selection that didn’t always make the most phenotypic sense. Strategic culling that sometimes hurt. Strategic line breeding until we could find the right out cross. Strategic selections on pedigrees not always phenotype.

We’ve used the “money ball” theme to build a flock we are proud of. A flock that doesn’t just make show lambs but mommas too (Pearl was shown by Molly to Champion Down and Reserve Supreme ewe at this very show in 2023)! Congratulations Molly and Lane on a heck of a weekend and we look forward to working with you for years to come! Special shout out to Dawn Stornetta for keeping this set together in the sweltering heat!!

☀️🔥Sunflower state was on FIRE!!!🔥☀️

Aidan Jones got it done in Kansas too!! Two nights in a row we had a Downer hang a big banner in KS!!

The Jones family set a goal to make the top 5 of their county fair this summer. ✅ GOAL ACHIEVED!!!

This little dude turned out wild in every way and exceeded all expectations we could have set for him.

💦☀️ Making a Splash in the Sunflower State ☀️💦It’s not every day that you can put a Southdown into a top 5 overall of a Midwest county fair. We are so thankful that it happened not once, but TWICE this week!!

Congratulations to Gracie Bailey on an outstanding season so far and her night at the Leavenworth County Fair!!
