It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our founder, Rüdiger “Rudi” Flik, who died peacefully last night after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
Rudi was more than an entrepreneur or industry leader — he was the heart of FLIK Hospitality. From his early days working in kitchens as a teen in Bavaria to his bold journey to the United States, Rudi built his life around a deep belief in the power of hospitality
to connect people.
Alongside his beloved wife and partner, Julie, he grew FLIK from a single location into an organization known for excellence, service, and genuine care for others, operating in 43 states.
Those who knew Rudi remember his warmth, humor, and unmistakable presence. His greatest legacy, however, lives through our people — passing on a true pride in our craft, a commitment to service, and a passion for building community through hospitality. Rudi was endlessly proud of all our associates and what they accomplish every day.
While we mourn this loss, we are deeply grateful to carry Rudi’s legacy forward together.
