Meet the Kvitka Stand — fall edition 🍂🌽🎃

She’s dressed for the season and stocked with all the fall goodness: winter squash, dried corn stalks & colorful corn bundles, local maple syrup, sourdough bread, and of course… FLOWERS 💐

We’re still picking away in Rye, and the dahlias are absolutely showing off. We’re expecting an abundance of blooms this week and next, so we’re soaking up every last bit of flower season before the frost arrives. 🌸

Right now, it’s mostly dahlias — and we’re soaking up every minute of their beauty. 🌸

Join us for U-Pick flowers tomorrow between 10am-12:30pm at 251 Harbor Rd, Rye, NH and come experience the flower field for yourself. Wander through the rows, pick your favorites, and take a little piece of October home with you. ❤️

The season may be short, but that makes these last flowers feel even more special. 🌼

We hope everyone are safe and cozy relaxing this weekend. We sure are! Working on our overgrown backyard plot and getting other field ready for the winter 😅 we never rest 💪🏻 but it’s a great excuse to stay close to home and relax the way you like!
We will remain closed until mid week, the weather looks great on Wednesday so we will do another u-pick and open the stand full of fresh flowers, bread, coffee beans, eggs and more! We are gearing up for fall everybody! Stay tuned!

Ode to Dahlia 🌸

You make us wait.

All spring, we tuck strange little tubers into the ground and wonder how something so unimpressive could possibly become this.

Then comes summer — staking, tying, pinching, watering, watching.
And still, you take your time.

But somewhere between the last hot days of August and the first cool mornings of September, the field changes.

Suddenly there are dahlias everywhere.

Perfect little balls.
Wild dinner plates.
Soft blushes and peaches, deep burgundies, creams, corals and colors that don’t quite have names.

Some face the sun.
Some hide beneath the leaves.
Some grow perfectly straight, and some absolutely refuse to cooperate.

We cut them, and they grow again.
We cut them again, and somehow there are more.

And just when the field is at its most beautiful, we know the frost is coming.

Maybe that’s part of what makes dahlias so special.

They don’t stay.

They arrive late, put on the most spectacular show of the season, and remind us to enjoy every last flower while we can.

An ode to the dahlia —
the queen of our September field. 🌸
