》MID-YEAR UPDATE《
We had a LOT of plans for this summer. Projects on the farm to get done for the business.
..Well, God had other plans.

Tony decided to break himself in the most simple way possible....squeezing fencing pliers. Yes, you heard that right. No major accidents or falls. Just doing a simple task while installing a new gate. Even the surgeon was surprised by this fact. This happened in March.
After dealing with good ol VA timing with community care referrals, he finally got an MRI and to speak to a surgeon mid April. Turns out he snapped the ligament that holds the wrist bones together. Something that usually happens from things like motorcycle accidents or construction workers falling off scaffolding. Yeah no...he squeezed pliers... 🙃
May came and we finally got the surgery in place. After surgery he went home same day in a double splint wrap(2nd pic). He had enough tendon left to reattach, so they set the pins in place to keep the bones from moving(3rd pic), a carpal tunnel release to help with his nerve issue and burned the nerve that would eventually send arthritic pain.
Two weeks later, a hard cast(4th pic).
Fast forward to this past Saturday morning. He slept wrong tweaking his wrist and was in a high amount of pain. Called the on-call surgeon, who said to take ibuprofen and Tylenol and told us to monitor it. Go into the walk-in or ER if needed.
Yesterday came and we both got concerned with him not getting relief. We called his surgeon's staff and they prescribed him better meds and moved up his follow-up from this upcoming Monday to today.
Pics 5-9 are from today. The pin below his thumb was loose and trying to come out. The surgeon removed it, cleaned up the ulcer that formed and he is now in a brace. He still has 1-4 months of recovery to go. Which means...the rest of the time Montana typically gives us decent enough weather to get our list of to-do's done.
As for me, compensating with farm chores and my own medical gunk...I'm very tired. However, I wouldn't change things, because I love my husband and he's worth it. ♡
We would appreciate any and all prayers for his recovery.
God bless, y'all!

A courteous reminder to all supporters and followers that access to the farm near our breeding pens is strictly prohibited. This policy is in place due to our NPIP/AI clean status. Consequently, handling of our adult birds or chicks that we list available , is not permitted until they have been paid for in full. We are more than happy to address any inquiries and can provide additional photographs or videos upon request. However, minimizing potential risks from external sources is essential to protecting our farm. Of course if you want to pay for the birds in person if you’re local pickup that is 100% okay & preferred. Due to restricted access to and handling of our breeders & breeding pens as a precautionary measure, we typically meet with individuals off-site for any & all purchases.

Thank you to everyone who supports our farm!🫶

》Howdy friends. I figured I'd give an update.《
Since the last post, Tony injured himself while working on some fencing. Turns out he snapped the tendon in his wrist that holds the bones together. He had surgery this past Friday where they put pins in to hold the bones while the tendon heals, they stretched his carpal tunnel to help the nerves and also burnt one of them to prevent arthritic pain in the future.
I have had issues with the cubital tunnels in both elbows, which I have been working with a PT on for the past few months. My Endometriosis has also gotten more severe. I have a more in depth laproscopy for that in July.
On top of all these issues, being in a new area we are learning how to deal with new wildlife and predators, as well as elemental differences. All the above has caused set backs with getting things better set up for the property and the business. It is just Tony and I, so many things will continue to be slow coming. All in God's time. ♡
With that, we have been doing a lot of thinking and trying to figure out how we want to do all this. We have a lot to still figure out, so we appreciate everyone's patience.
On another note, no matter what we decide to do, we do plan to have livestreams of the animals where subscribers can feed them and other things we haven't set in stone yet and may do an occassional Q&A with us. We have a profile on Twitch with the same username and may *potentially* branch out to other platforms as well. Cameras still need installed so no livestreams have happened yet.
As for the pictures on this post, this here is Blanco. A sweet and silly bantam cochin roo we got from last fall. Go check them out! ♡
Much love, y'all. ♡

PSA: Meeting Breeders where they are.

When you purchase birds from a breeder who is actively working on progressing and refining their program, you are purchasing a piece of their work - exactly where they are in that process.

That doesn’t mean what you’re buying is “perfect.” In fact, perfection in livestock breeding is nearly impossible to achieve. Every serious breeder - no matter how experienced - has something they are actively refining. That might be tail set, wing carriage, overall balance, size consistency, type, or uniformity across generations.

Progress takes time. Consistency takes even longer.

When working with rare, exotic, or newer breeds and varieties still in refinement, it’s especially important to have realistic expectations. For example, breeds like Indio Gigante are still very new in the United States. They require significant refinement, standardization, and consistency. Dedicated breeders across the country are working hard to move the breed in the right direction - but as a whole, it is still very much a work in progress.

And that’s okay.

That’s how breed development works.

The key is open, honest communication. If you have a breeder in mind, have real conversations:
• Ask where they feel their program is strongest.
• Ask what they’re actively improving.
• Ask what traits you should pay attention to when selecting birds.
• Ask what realistic expectations should be for the current generation.

As a buyer, you deserve transparency.
As a breeder, we deserve understanding that this is a journey.

When you buy from a developing program, you’re not just buying birds - you’re investing in a shared vision for the future of that breed.

Be informed. Be realistic. Support progress. Support growing together.

》UPDATES《

We apologize for the radio silence lately.

We decided to hold off on poultry with spring hatching/chicks until we get a better set up for the birds. We have coyotes, owls and other aerial predators always about. We also get a lot more wind. These have affected us a lot with this very strange winter we had.

We are looking for a full breed rex rabbit buck soon to start breeding the rabbits, trying to get a better shelter for the horses and replace their waterers. We also found a company we plan to use to help us breed our mare, Dreamer, so we're prepping for that as well.

Tony will be cutting his work days at his job from 5 days to 3 days starting in March so he can have more time working on tasks out here. Liz is preparing for a medical procedure to hopefully decrease the amount of pain she feels on a daily basis.

Again, we are sorry for not being active. It's also tax season and this is our first year having to file with the business.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. ♡
God bless.

》Update《

Our old home finally sold! We no longer have to worry about paying a double mortgage. Thank God! Now we can catch up on things and really focus on fixing this place up!

For Tony, Christmas came early and he had his tractor delivered yesterday. However, the Montana wind storms here have gotten up to 50-60mph and so he hasn't been able to "play" with it yet. Even unloading it was a nightmare in the wind.

We are still trying to rehome more chickens and all the turkey hens, keeping only the Bresse until we have better setups.
The horses are doing well up here at least. Now that we have the tractor, we will be adding a roof to their wind break so they have better elemental coverage.

That's it for now! We hope everyone is staying safe and warm this holiday season and we all remember the reason for the season!

Much love and God bless! ♡

》UPDATE《

Unfortunately, things have been slow moving and not in our favor since moving to the property. The old house didn't sell as quickly as we had hoped and we weren't prepared for paying double mortgage and utilities for as long as we have. We are supposed to finally close the sale on Dec. 5th, God willing.
Due to this major set back, finances crunched, losing all our ducks to predators and not being able to get winterized setups done in time, we made the ultimate decision to sell/rehome most of our birds.
We care more about the health and well-being of our livestock than making a profit, so these prices are flexible. Just please consider our current situation and try not to take advantage of us because of it. All funds made will help with winter feed costs and continuing winterization.
