Reliable. Friendly. Delicious.

Laurie Colwin said it best: no matter how you enjoy them, tomatoes are one of life’s constants. From vine-ripened fields to your favorite sauce, soup, pizza, or salad, they deliver the taste of summer whenever you need it.

The taste of summertime… all year long. ☀️❤️🍅

Canned Tomatoes: the Taste of Summertime
All year long

“When evidence doesn’t match how you understand the world, or how you shape your identity, you don’t want to believe it.”

This line from a recent article about imported tomatoes feels bigger than just food.

For years, imported “San Marzano” tomatoes have been positioned as the gold standard — not always because people can actually taste a difference, but because they've been told that it represents something. Sophistication. Authenticity. Status. Identity.

But what if some of the best tomatoes in the world are being grown much closer to home? Are people willing to admit it if it makes them question their very identity?

Interesting psychology. Interesting conversation. Worth the read.

When we have access to so many products, what we choose says a lot about who we are. It’s hard to suggest you’re cultured with a supermarket home brand.

Holy Seasonality, Batman!!! 🍅

Just because you can buy tomatoes year-round doesn’t mean they’re actually in season where you live. Most grocery store “fresh” tomatoes are picked green so they can survive shipping across the world, and some are even gassed later to turn red. They look ripe… but they don’t taste like summer.

That’s why canned and jarred tomatoes are such a secret weapon. They’re harvested during peak tomato season when they’re fully ripe, flavorful, and packed with nutrients — then sealed within hours to lock in the taste of summer all year long. 🙌

Vintage canned tomato love ❤️🍅

Long before meal prep trends, viral recipes, and fancy food labels, families around the world were relying on canned tomatoes to create healthy, delicious, and affordable meals year-round. Since the 1800s, canned tomatoes have helped preserve peak-season flavor and nutrition so people could enjoy great tomatoes long after harvest season ended.

And honestly? That story still matters today.

In a world focused on reducing food waste, stretching grocery budgets, and keeping simple pantry staples on hand, canned tomatoes aren’t outdated… they’re timeless. Picked at peak ripeness and sealed within hours, they continue to be one of the easiest ways to bring real flavor, convenience, and nutrition into the kitchen all year long.
