Arguably the most insidious and toxic form of plastic pollution, cigarette butts are designed to remove chemicals from smoke, chemicals so nasty, even smokers don't want them in their lungs. And yet, some of those smokers seem to think the same, nasty butts are biodegradable little gems that can safely be tossed anywhere. Addiction plays tricks on otherwise reasonable people.

Make your life a little less plastic. Plastic Free July starts today! It has grown to epic proportions over the years with plastic-free commitments from 23,000 people, 76 schools, and 286 groups and businesses in 83 countries! Why not take the pledge to cut a little (or a lot of) plastic out of your life for July. Who knows? You might even decide to make it a plastic free 2015.

Going plastic free is easier than you might think. Here are some suggestions:
1) Bring a shopping bag
2) Use refillable water bottles (filtered water is excellent)
3) Eat in or bring your own takeaway containers
4) Buy fresh and avoid packaging
5) Buy dry goods in bulk in your own containers from places like Honest to Goodness - Organic Food & Natural Food, Alfalfa House Community Food Co-Op, The Source, Naked Foods Organic Health Foods, and many more.

symbolize prosperity

Sadly, it seems to define more societies, not fewer, each year.
