Although it isn’t harvest season, the work never stops.📢 🧑‍🌾

This winter we’ve been busy developing a campaign for our client, the California Pear Advisory Board (CPAB), highlighting the challenges local growers face due to the surge of Argentine pear imports.

Through CPAB’s social media channels, along with outreach to local and trade media, we were able to amplify this message while the board works with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to help protect California farmers.

The response to the campaign has been outstanding. Not only has it generated media coverage, but it has also opened conversations with Argentine importers who are willing to work collaboratively toward a solution so both industries can sell pears in harmony.

This campaign is a powerful reminder that social media gives organizations the ability to tell their own story and spark meaningful conversations that can lead to real change.

To see more from CPAB’s campaign, follow California Pears on Instagram, Facebook, and X.

Interested in using social media to support your industry and build momentum around an issue that matters? Give us a call. At Farmers Communication Exchange, we’re here to help share your story in a way that leaves a lasting impact.

Big news over here 👏🌾

This week, we proudly launched brand new social media channels on LinkedIn and X for our client, the California Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers Association (CACASA)!

And the timing couldn’t be better as we’re celebrating ✨ National Sealers of Weights and Measures Week ✨

Why does this matter? Our state's political leaders and communities deserve clear, accurate information about the critical work Ag Commissioners and Sealers do every single day to protect public health, enforce pesticide laws, and prevent consumer fraud.

Sealers of Weights and Measures are working behind the scenes to ensure fairness and accuracy in commercial transactions. From the gas you pump, to the groceries you weigh, their work helps ensure you get exactly what you pay for.

Join us in celebrating by:

✔️ Following CACASA on LinkedIn and X
✔️ Learning more about the role of Ag Commissioners and Sealers
✔️ Sharing their impact with your network

Because accurate measurement isn’t just policy, it’s public trust.

California’s leafy greens farming never ceases to amaze us! 🥬 🌱 🥦 ✨

Last week, we worked with our client, the California LGMA, to share the story of all that’s being done to keep leafy greens safe with food safety advocates Dr. Darin Detwiler and Kathleen Gillin. Kathleen’s daughter, Riley, was sickened in the 2006 spinach outbreak that led to the creation of the LGMA. Today, Kathleen serves as the public member on the LGMA Board.

Together, we saw romaine harvest, sampled broccoli straight from the field, met with food safety personnel who ensure the safety of the water used in farming leafy greens, visited a compost operation, got an up-close view of spinach harvest, and toured a state-of-the-art cooling facility — all dedicated to producing safe leafy greens.💚

Farmers Communication Exchange is sad to share the news that one of our favorite humans in all of California agriculture has passed. We had the privilege of working with Jonathan W. Field over the years in his role as Executive Director of the Walnut Bargaining Association and as Compliance Officer for the California and Arizona Leafy Greens Marketing Agreements and the California Cantaloupe Advisory Board. Please take a moment to read the press release we issued in his honor to learn more about all Jon contributed to California agriculture. He really was one of the best! He will be missed.

CACASA Executive Director, Lindsey Carter, participated in a panel discussion at last week’s Agri-Pulse Communications, Inc. Food & Ag Issues Summit, where she shared key insights into the new era of California’s pesticide regulatory system.

During the panel, Carter explained the critical role that California’s Agricultural Commissioners play in enforcing the state’s comprehensive pesticide regulations. 🎧 Listen to that portion of the discussion here: https://youtu.be/0Gy6rBwwn5I?t=431

🪲She also emphasized that one of the most effective ways to achieve the goals outlined in the California Department of Pesticide Regulation's Sustainable Pest Management Plan is by prioritizing pest prevention. Learn more about this strategy here: https://youtu.be/0Gy6rBwwn5I?t=1654

🌱 Pesticide Policy Is Evolving—Don’t Miss CACASA’s Perspective

We’re looking forward to the upcoming panel, “A New Era for California Pesticide Regulation,” featuring Lindsey Carter, Executive Director of our client, the California Agricultural Commissioners and Sealers Association (CACASA), at the Agri-Pulse Communications, Inc. Food & Ag Issues Summit in Sacramento on Tuesday, June 10th.

As part of this important discussion, Lindsey will share the critical role California’s agricultural commissioners play in pesticide enforcement—ensuring the safe use of pesticides in a way that protects communities while maintaining a practical, functional system for growers and industry. Her insights will be key to understanding how regulation and on-the-ground implementation work together to support public health and agricultural sustainability.

We'll be attending and hope to see many of you there for a full day of timely topics, expert speakers, and valuable networking!
