Yes, we are coming back! Our family wants to bring "KATILAND" back to the Temecula Valley!
In 2014 & 2015, our family opened our home to the people of Southern California to come and experience our Train Rides, take Free Photos with Santa, and experience our Family Farm.
In those two years, our family entertained over 10,000 guests from our local area! We didn't know what to do with ourselves, and decided that if we were going to do this for our community, we needed to properly plan... and then get help. We absolutely loved the opportunity to open our home and provide family fun to the families and children of our community. It has been our dream since then to relocate and re-open our "little family park" again to the people of Temecula. This time, we would like to open permanently, in an area properly zoned for our operation.
Here is how far we have been able to get on our own, and what we have ready to offer now:
- We have worked for 5 years to purchase a new property with correct zoning located in the Temecula Wine Country, now that we have it we are so proud to get started!
- Original 1902 Dentzel Menagerie Carousel is ready to be finished for public use. Our community knows this carousel! It was the first carousel located at Knotts Berry Farm Lagoon in Buena Park, CA. and also entertained Children at Castle Park in Riverside, CA. We plan to open this carousel to the public.
- A building to house the Carousel. Our plans for this building are to use half of it for the Dentzel Carousel, and the other half will be made available for Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, Weddings, Live Music, Food service, Community Events, and more.
- Two Miniature Train Rides, and all the necessary railroad track. Both locomotives were used in our 2014 & 2015 Katiland events in Temecula. These trains were also the first locomotives to entertain guests at Knotts Berry Farm Lagoon, back in the 1950s. We are proud to be able to preserve a piece of local amusement park history here in Temecula.
- 65' Eli Ferris Wheel: Our plans for this Ferris wheel are still up in the air, we are working to get approval to erect this Ferris Wheel on our new property. Fun Fact: This exact ferris wheel was featured in the 2004 film, "The Notebook". We hope to preserve this movie star Ferris wheel along with our beautiful train rides and carousel for our community to enjoy.
- We have invested our life's work into BUILDING KATILAND, and nearly all the money we make at our Family business goes towards this project. The rides, new property, and building are only the beginnings of what we still have to do.
--
Now that we have the rides, building, and property, we decided to reach out to our community through this Go-Fund-Me campaign to get help in the next phase of our project, BUILDING KATILAND.
First and foremost, Katiland is meant to be a place where local families can come and enjoy Family Fun without spending hundreds of dollars in the process!
As a family who runs a business building train rides and working on old carousels, we are proud to go against the status quo of the amusements industry by giving our community an affordable place for family fun.
While we have the land, the rides, the will, and the opportunity to BUILD KATILAND... we still need help. We are a humble family business, and to build a venue like we imagine we need help from our community.
Here is what we are asking for:
We are now ready to ask for our community to help us cover the following costs:
- Purchasing Concrete for our Carousel/Party Room Building, & paying a Licensed Contractor to put the building together.
- Purchasing Wood Railroad Ties and Gravel to properly install our Railroad Track. (we already have the steel tracks!)
- Installing walking paths, asphalt parking area, and lighting. The biggest complaint about our events in 2014 & 2015 were that our guests had to walk on dirt and there was very little lighting at night. This time around we would like to install proper pathways and lighting to accomodate guests of all ages and physical limitations.
- Purchasing Trees & Plants: Not only do we want to invite our community to enjoy our train rides... we would like to build a local picking farm and botanical gardens to this property. Where guests are able to come and pick fresh fruits, berries, table grapes, and vegetables, from our farm to your table. Along with the Picking Gardens, we want our community to walk through Botanical Gardens to see plants and wildlife that they otherwise wouldn't see in the area.
- General Construction Materials: We need things like wood, steel, nails, screws, glue, and other common materials needed to Build Katiland. This covers things like restrooms and irrigation as well.
--
Our Pledge: We know that we can't do this without the help of our community, each and every donation from this campaign will go directly into investing in the projects listed above. As a thank you, we promise to keep Katiland affordable for each and every family that comes to visit.
The main goal of this campaign is to BUILD KATILAND and open it for our community to enjoy.
Donors and Donations will get special thanks from our Family, & will be named in the park via bricks, benches, and a special donor wall listing the people who help us realize the dream we have for our community. Large donations will be honored with special railroad memorabilia and heartfelt gratitude.

What's in it for YOU?
- Katiland is meant to be a place where local families can come and enjoy Family Fun without spending hundreds of dollars in the process.
- Katiland will be open and available for Birthday Parties, Weddings, Corporate Events, Monthly Farmers Markets, Farming Classes, Arts & Entertainment Events, School Trips, and of course our Train Rides, Amusements, and Family Farm.
- A place to experience amusement and movie history. Our Trains and Carousel are from the Dawn of Theme Park History in California. From the trains and carousel from Knott's Lagoon to the ferris wheel from "The Notebook", there's no telling what else we may be able to rescue from our adventures in family business.
"Success for us would mean watching a guest grow up visiting our little park... and then seeing them bring their children to enjoy it after them. "
- By donating to this project, you will be a part in creating a beloved tradition for families in our area. We hope to provide a place to inspire children and give them memories for generations to come. Thank you for the time you spent reading our story and supporting our dream of BUILDING KATILAND!
